Description

Title: Data Management Specialist

Location: Washington, DC (Onsite)

Terms: Full-Time/Permanent

Security Clearance: Due to the nature of the work being done, all qualified candidates must possess an active TS/SCI clearance.

The Data Management Specialist will will develop and maintains plans, policies, and processes for data management, data governance, security, quality, accessibility, use, and disposal.

Responsibilities:

Apply data management principles, governance guidelines, and understanding of data holdings to review, approve, and manage data in support of broad customer requirements for geospatial or organizational data.
Facilitate effective data production and storage by aligning organizational processes (e.g., data sharing, metadata creation/maintenance) to governance requirements, including using data workflow technologies to automate and improve data management.
Apply logic to categorize data, document how data categories relate to each other, and maintain ontology (e.g., data dictionary names, data integrity rules).
Ensure application of appropriate security controls and conformance to data policies, standards, and any legal or regulatory requirements.
Evaluate the state of data and determine methods to improve data quality, usability, and availability.
Advocate for and train others on data management best practices and work with customers to qualify all data management metrics across the data lifecycle.
Identify data-related performance improvements in the current architecture, services, workflows and related capabilities, document requirements, provide a mission-focused justification, and develop/integrate solutions to enhance the baseline and deliver more effective operational support.
Conduct mission-focused requirements determination that will enable immediate and future database improvements to operational support.
Execute the following ad hoc technical tasks in support of NGA Objectives:
Customer Engagement, Training, and Support
Coordination with Analyst/Scientist and Working Groups
Host/Coordinate TEMs with Customers and Data Providers
