    Allies for Every Child (Allies) exists to create a world where every child has a healthy, loving childhood.

    poverty, trauma, family homelessness, child welfare involvement, foster care, or have disabilities or mental health challenges.

    For over 30 years, Allies has been providing thousands of children and their families with critical, high-quality early education programs (including comprehensive Early Head Start services), family strengthening interventions, foster care and adoption services, and a range of vital, integrated services, including educational assessments, disabilities screenings, nutrition, dental and vision screenings, mental health and pediatric health consultations.


    JOB SUMMARY:


    In partnership with Allies CEO, the Development Director will be charged with building and executing annual and long-term development plans to meet Allies' private fundraising goals, as well as leading additional fundraising efforts – including a capital campaign – necessary to support the quality and growth of Allies' programs.

    The Development Director will be expected to exhibit leadership skills in the development and management of individual gifts, corporate and foundation relations, and special events.

    This position provides strategic and operational leadership, vision, direction, and oversight for Allies' comprehensive fundraising efforts.

    ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES :

    Develop and execute comprehensive strategies to achieve Allies' annual $1.5-2 million private fundraising goal.
    ·


    Identify, qualify, cultivate, solicit, and steward current and prospective individual, corporate, and foundation donors to build visibility, impact, and financial resources for Allies, with a key focus on the creation and execution of a strategy for a large, sustained base of annual individual donors.

    ·

    Work closely with and support Allies' Board Development Committee and event committees.
    ·

    Support the CEO and Board Members in the management of their donor/prospect portfolios.
    ·


    Oversee the design and production of all fundraising campaigns, including special event production for the Big Hearts Gala and Children's Art Festival, ensuring that goals for fundraising, attendance, marketing, and programming are met and kept within budget.

    ·

    Develop creative direct mail, annual, and major gift strategies to expand donor pool and strengthen donor retention.
    ·


    Proactively develop and maintain relationships with major donors/prospects, securing new sources of support, and ensuring timely, personalized, and strategic communication.

    ·


    With support from the Grant writer, identify, develop, and nurture relationships with private grant funders; work closely with CEO and program staff to understand funding needs, and oversee the development of proposals and reports to meet annual grant funding goal.

    ·


    Work with Communications Director to develop relationships with program staff and build a pool of success stories to share with donors and other stakeholders.

    Lead tailored tours of Allies' facilities, providing relevant in-depth information about Allies' comprehensive approach, target population, and

    programs/interventions,

    while contextualizing agency work within the larger philanthropic and social justice arenas in Los Angeles.

    Work closely with finance staff on agency, department, and event/campaign budget objectives, as well as monthly financial reconciliation.
    ·

    Supervise and work collaboratively with Development & Volunteer Program Coordinator.

    EDUCATION & QUALIFICATIONS:
    ·

    BA degree or equivalent experience required.
    ·


    A minimum of 5 years of fundraising and management experience with a proven record of leadership and collaboration – including staff supervision and successful cultivation and solicitation of gifts.

    ·


    Experience in planning, leading, and managing development projects, including working with a team to achieve desired outcomes, and tracking and reporting on progress to senior leadership/Board of Directors.

    ·


    Strong interpersonal skills; demonstrated skill at establishing and cultivating strong relationships with stakeholders and peers, across different levels of the organization and externally.

    ·

    Demonstrated ability to take initiative and actively seek to both deepen current donor relationships and forge new ones.
    ·


    Skilled in creating powerful, compelling written and oral communications for fundraising; ability to convey complex ideas through brief, simple materials.

    Experience effectively managing a donor database to support

    fundraising/relationship

    management.
    ·


    Ability to embrace working with diverse staff, donor base, and community members; effective at developing and reaching common goals and objectives.

    ·


    A passion for and knowledge of Allies' mission, with a deep understanding of how our fundraising goals have a direct correlation to the quality and availability of our services and our social justice impact.

    Fingerprint background clearance (DOJ, FBI & Child Abuse Clearance Index), or approved exemption

    Successful completion of pre-employment physical, PPD/TB test/risk assessment, proof of immunizations for Covid-19 + booster, pertussis (Tdap), measles (MMR) and influenza (can decline).

    Class "C" driver's license, proof of insurance, a safety record acceptable to CAA, and reliable transportation required
