- Serve as a labor and delivery/perinatal special care unit care subject matter expert in and to develop research, advise, educate, execute, and implement nursing standards and practices.
- Incorporate advanced knowledge and skills to plan, coordinate, and direct labor and delivery/perinatal special care unit care clinical activities to independently solve problems related to nursing practice and to improve quality and safety of care.
- Facilitate staff orientation, implement ongoing professional development and continuing education activities that reflect evidence-based practice to achieve expertise in care of specialized patient populations.
- Participate in discharge planning across the mother infant nursing department care continuum to include inpatient, outpatient, and community resources/services, to facilitate achievable transfer or discharge objectives
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- A Personnel Security Investigation is required.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment
- This position has specific initial background investigation and periodic re-verification requirements since its duties require interaction with children and youth under the age of eighteen (18) years of age on a recurring basis.
- This position is a Testing Designated Position subject to pre-employment screening and random drug testing
- A pre-placement medical examination is required.
- Immunization screening is required
- Must be able to obtain and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Red Cross
- Must be able to obtain and maintain certification in Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP).

- Incumbent is required to take on-call shifts.

Exemption:
