- Ensures adherence to quality standards and all policies and award regulations. Works as the post-award specialists to solve problems, answer questions, and give guidance on post-award activities and other grants management topics on a daily basis;
- Advises and assists departments and compliance issues related to funding agency regulations and standards, and oversees adherence to University administrative, fiscal, and accounting policies related to grant proposals;
- Works with colleagues/team members to jointly solve questions and challenges in their daily work. Upon award acceptance, defines account establishment parameters, including billing and reporting requirements, budget, and cost sharing obligations. Sets up award in financial system;
- Coordinates with relevant individuals to make adjustments to payroll for all budgeted positions (including relative cost sharing positions);
- Reviews and reconciles award expenditures and budgets, making adjustments, as necessary. Projects and forecasts future award expenditures;
- Manages budget, reporting and compliance timelines through the lifecycle of the grant or contract;
- Communicates with PIs on a regular basis regarding budget and expense adjustments and revisions. Assists with financial reports to be sent to sponsor, as required by the award terms and conditions;
- Monitors compliance with agency and University regulations regarding reporting;
- Coordinates and submits requests for No Cost Extensions, Carryover, rebudgeting requests, changes in scope, and other changes to the award; ensures all requests are done in compliance with sponsor guidelines and University policies;
- Reviews effort reports and manages quarterly effort certification process for assigned units. Applies federal and university rules to management of effort allocation appropriately for individuals compensated whole or in part from federal awards;
- Assists in transferring awards out of the university. Closes out all funded projects consistent with university process and timelines. Performs related responsibilities as required.
- Minimum 3 years' experience in a related field, a combination of the following is preferred: procurement (federal, states, or industrial), proposal submissions, contract negotiations, grant and contract administration, and or/financial administration
- Bachelor's degree or higher from a regionally accredited college or university
- Ability to interpret federal statues, rules, and regulations
- Effective analytical skills
- Work effectively with minimum supervision
- Highly detailed and organized
- Ability to complete assignments in a timely manner
- Excellent communication, writing, and interpersonal skills with a focus on customer service
- Microsoft Office proficiency- Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook
- Commitment to the Vision and Mission of the University.

- $50,000 - $56,000 Annually, plus benefits

POSITION SUMMARY
Under direct supervision, manages post-award activities within the Office of Sponsored Programs/Title III. The Post-Award specialist will apply federal knowledge of grants and contracts to manage grants and other contractual agreements. Post-award activities include, but not limited to regular review, reconciliation, and projection of award finances, preparing adjustments and corrections to award budgets, preparing financial reports, and at the end of the award, ensuring all financial requirements have been met, and closing out the award. Interacts regularly with and provides high quality customer service to faculty and staff members conducting sponsored research.
TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES
Founded in 1875, Huston-Tillotson University is Austin's first institution of higher education. The University is an independent, liberal arts, church-related, historically black institution located on a 23-acre tree-lined campus near downtown Austin, Texas. The University is affiliated with United Methodist Church, the United Church of Christ, and the United Negro College Fund. Undergraduate, four-year degrees in business, education, the humanities, natural sciences, and social sciences are awarded. Huston-Tillotson University is multi-cultural, multi-ethnic, and multi-faith, and welcomes students of all ages, races, and religions. All faculty are engaged in a range of activities, their primary focus is teaching. The student-teacher ratio is 15 to one, which allows an environment of personalized attention to students.
