The German Alzheimer Society (DAlzG) in New Brunswick, NJ is dedicated to improving the lives of those affected by dementia.

They provide support and advice to individuals with dementia and their families, as well as educate the public about the disease.

The DAlzG also serves as an independent resource for media, professional associations, and research. As the national association of over 130 Alzheimer's societies, the DAlzG has been in existence since 1989.

For the past 20 years, they have operated the Alzheimer's Telephone, where a multi-professional team provides telephone and email support to caregivers, individuals with dementia, and volunteers on all matters related to dementia.

In addition to providing information, the DAlzG focuses on psychosocial counseling for caregivers on how to care for individuals with dementia and find relief.

Starting in January 2023, the organization will be launching a new project, "People with early-stage dementia and people with rare forms of dementia and their families," which will place a strong emphasis on counseling services.

To implement the project and provide support on the national Alzheimer's Telephone, we are seeking a new team member.

The organization is seeking applicants with the following skills and experiences:

  • A degree in social work (Bachelor's) or a comparable degree or vocational training
  • Relevant experience in planning and implementing timelimited projects
  • Competence and experience in public speaking, event organization, and participation
  • Counseling skills
  • Preferably,
