Title IX and Civil Rights Investigator

Job Description:
Fulfills the mission of Norwich University by investigating allegations of Title IX, Title VI, and ADA to ensure institutional compliance.

Salary: $60,000/year or more depending on experience.

Remote work may be authorized.

Essential Functions

Serves as the primary investigator responsible for conducting thorough and timely investigations into allegations of sexual misconduct, harassment, discrimination, and other related violations.
Interviews involved parties, develops well-written and comprehensive investigative reports, organizes evidence, and supports the resolution process.
Conducts prompt and impartial factfinding investigations of complaints alleging sexual harassment, sex discrimination, or other forms of discrimination as a neutral third-party.
Provides timely updates regarding status of complaints received to help identify and address patterns or systemic problems and to ensure that applicable policies are communicated to all involved parties.
Assists the Title IX Coordinator with the College's Title IX compliance efforts, including the development, implementation, and monitoring of appropriate disclosures, policies, procedures, and practices designed to comply with federal and state legislation, regulation, and case law requiring the prompt and equitable resolution of Title IX complaints.
Assists the Title IX Coordinator in managing a comprehensive case management system that includes each reported complaint involving any form of discrimination, harassment, sexual misconduct, sexual harassment, domestic violence, dating violence, and stalking.
Works collaboratively and effectively with other University departments and community resources to assist with the identification and implementation of supportive measures and implementation of university policies.
Assists in the collection and preparation of the annual statistical report on the number, nature, and disposition of complaints, identifying patterns and making recommendations.
Maintains record-keeping procedures, conducts compliance reviews, and prepares reports and plans as required, including statistical reports and summaries for various departments regarding caseloads, types of conduct cases, and outcomes.
Commits to the highest ethical and professional standards; personal and professional integrity, high quality/standard of work, discretion, and ability to maintain confidentiality.
Knowledge of nondiscrimination laws and compliance regulations including but not limited to: Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972, the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) amendments to the Clery Act, FERPA, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, the Americans with Disabilities Act (as amended), Title VI and Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, and the Age Discrimination Act of 1975.

Serves on University committees, councils, workgroups, or other designated bodies as assigned.
Achieves, maintains proficiency in, and utilizes computers, telephones, and other job-related equipment, including related systems and software.
Speaks, reads, and writes in English.
Communicates by telephone, email, letter, in person, or other means or device.
Performs other tasks as assigned by supervisor.

Requirements:
Bachelor's degree required.
Minimum of 1 year of experience investigating or otherwise resolving discrimination (to include Title IX) complaints in a collegiate or governmental setting. 3 years of experience preferred.
Title IX certification through ATIXA or a similar organization preferred.
Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, SharePoint, Teams, and Outlook) required
Able to sit, squat, reach, push, pull, and manipulate related equipment; lift 15 pounds; travel outdoors to various parts of the campus.
Work some evening or weekend hours
Travel as needed
