- Assess the security posture of the SIS environment through regular vulnerability assessments, penetration testing, and security audits.
- Develop and implement security policies, procedures, and controls to safeguard sensitive data within the SIS platform, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements (e.g., FERPA, GDPR).
- Monitor system logs and alerts to detect and respond to security incidents, investigating root causes and implementing corrective actions as needed.
- Conduct security awareness training and education programs for end-users to promote best practices and ensure adherence to security policies.
- Collaborate with system administrators and developers to implement security patches, updates, and configuration changes promptly.
- Perform risk assessments and threat modeling exercises to identify potential security vulnerabilities and prioritize mitigation efforts.
- Stay abreast of emerging threats and vulnerabilities in the higher education sector, recommending proactive measures to enhance the security posture of the SIS environment.
- Participate in incident response and crisis management activities, coordinating with internal and external stakeholders to minimize the impact of security incidents.
- Maintain documentation of security policies, procedures, and incident response plans, ensuring alignment with industry standards and best practices.
- Provide technical expertise and guidance to cross-functional teams on security-related matters, serving as a subject matter expert on SIS security.
- Bachelor's degree in Information Security, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Minimum of five years of experience in information security, with a focus on securing enterprise-level applications and systems.
- Experience working with SIS platforms such as PeopleSoft Campus Solutions, Ellucian Banner, or similar.
- Strong understanding of security principles, standards, and frameworks (e.g., NIST Cybersecurity Framework, ISO
- Knowledge of security technologies and tools such as intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS), SIEM solutions, and endpoint protection.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess complex security issues and recommend effective solutions.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
- Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CISM, or GIAC are preferred.

Position Summary:
Our client is looking for an SIS Security Analyst who will be responsible for ensuring the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of the University's Student Information System (SIS) by implementing and maintaining robust security measures and protocols. This individual will work closely with stakeholders across various departments to identify security risks, develop mitigation strategies, and monitor system activity to detect and respond to security incidents.
