Job Description:
This is a 12-month postdoctoral position reporting to Dr. Konstantin G. Kousoulas.
Job duties involve research in molecular biology and virology working primarily on the use of herpes viruses as vaccines and vaccine vectors including their use for cancer treatment.
Additional duties include providing scientific support to research projects carried out by the Division of Biotechnology & Molecular Medicine (BioMMed), providing scientific review and assistance for projects carried out by junior investigators in the Louisiana Biomedical Research Network (LBRN) and the Molecular and Cell Biology Core of the Center for Pre-Clinical Cancer Research (CPCCR).
Job Responsibilities:
60% - Working in a team setting on the use of herpes viruses (HSV and BHV) as vaccines and vaccine vectors including their use for cancer immunotherapy and assist in grant preparations.
20% - Provide scientific assistance and review for junior investigators in LBRN and CPCCR Molecular and Cell Biology Core. Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Ph.
D. in Biological Sciences or related field and DVM
Preferred Qualifications:
Ph.
D. and DVM with relevant publications in peer reviewed journals pertaining to herpesviruses.
Specific Experience - Ph.
D. in molecular virology and viral immunology with expertise in immunopathogenesis of herpesviruses. Immunological characterization of viral infections with specific interest in herpesviruses.
Special and Physical Qualifications:
Required to be capable of lifting up to 50 pounds, standing, sitting, walking, bending, reaching above the shoulder, reaching below the shoulder, vision near sight, vision far sight, twisting, pushing/pulling, grasping, and squatting.
