    Reporting to the Vice-Provost, Innovations in Undergraduate Education (VPIUE), the Director, Innovations in Undergraduate Education is a member of the Vice-Provost's leadership team, providing direction, coordination and senior administration to assist the Vice-Provost in developing and achieving the goals and objectives of the portfolio.

    The incumbent provides high-level research, project leadership, and managerial support in the development and execution of Vice-Provostial goals and provides workflow coordination to ensure effective exchange of information between Provostial portfolios and with stakeholders.

    The Director works in collaboration with other units reporting to the VPIUE (Centre for Teaching Support and Innovation), units across the Provost's Division (such as Academic Programs, Strategic Enrolment Management, and Office of the Vice-Provost Students and Student Life), Vice-Presidential Offices (such as VPOREP including ITS; PSEC), shared service divisions (such as Planning & Budget and IRDG, and Government Relations), and the University's academic divisions.

    The position supports the undergraduate education mission, related Presidential Priorities, teaching excellence, student academic success, and excellence in the academic experience across all three campuses.

    The Director is responsible for leading strategic initiatives, operations, and discussions with tri-campus academic and shared service leaders regarding the development and coordination of institutional initiatives to support the President's, Provost's, Vice-Provost's and divisional strategic priorities for undergraduate education.

    To achieve these goals, the Director provides managerial oversight and support for developing, implementing and championing projects and initiatives of strategic priority, and independently leading and managing the development and implementation of complex, large-scale, and high-priority institutional projects, initiatives, and partnerships.

    The Director represents the office on institutionally impactful administrative and business matters, and supports or represents the Vice Provost, Innovations in Undergraduate Education on various standing committees.

    The Director provides strategic advice and coordination to academic administrators and administrative leadership in areas related to curriculum design and enhancement, pedagogical innovation, undergraduate academic experience and success, and relevant institutional data/business systems based on a knowledge of critical processes, practices, guidelines, and policies.

    The Director, Innovations in Undergraduate Education supervises the coordination of institutional programs to support the Presidential Priorities, the University's Strategic Mandate Agreement, and quality indicators related to the undergraduate academic experience, including the administration of awards and funding programs, leadership on education-related institutional data projects, and overseeing complex project development processes in response to institutional and provincial initiatives.

    The Director, in collaboration with the VPIUE, develops short and long-term strategic plans for the OVPIUE and its initiatives, manages the budget or OVPIUE and institutional budget submission processes for units reporting to the Office of the Vice-Provost, Innovations in Undergraduate Education, develops administrative guidelines and procedures for the OVPIUE, and supervises all OVPIUE staff, excluding the Executive Assistant to the VPIUE.


    Education:
    ~ University degree required, postgraduate degree (Master's or Ph.
    D) is an asset, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

    Minimum five years related experience in a University setting in progressively senior positions.

    Extensive experience with the University and knowledge of university policies and procedures and an understanding of the university's organizational structure, including its governance.

    Knowledge about media, protocol, diplomacy and an excellent understanding of the University's mission and intersection with the broader community.

    Experience leading complex, multi-stakeholder projects.
    Experience participating in the development of data systems is an asset.

    Demonstrated professional experience in understanding complex issues related to institutional policies and practices and in managing a range of competing interests in the development, coordination, and implementation of projects in a decentralized and highly complex organization.

    Demonstrated experience in the collection, analysis and dissemination of data – both quantitative and qualitative.
    Demonstrated ability to manage and sound knowledge of managerial practice.
    Experience managing people in a unionized environment, with familiarity working with human resource policies and collective agreements.

    Advanced computer skills in Microsoft Office.

    Strong research, writing, communication, presentation and interpersonal skills.

    Ability to establish credibility and work with senior University Officers in a manner which facilitates cooperation and consensus building.
