    Document all user requirements for the data warehouse Document current state data architecture and potential sources of data. Assist vendor with integration of their Financial Data Warehouse Document testing of new systems as they become available.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    Organizational Setting:

    The United Nations Secretary-General is responsible for the investment of the assets of the United Nations Joint Staff Pension Fund (UNJSPF).

    The Secretary-General has delegated this responsibility to the Representative of the Secretary-General for the investment of the assets of the UNJSPF (RSG).

    The RSG heads the Office of Investment Management (OIM), which manages a $80+ billion multi-asset class, global investment portfolio, about 85% of which is actively managed in-house.

    Asset classes under management comprise global equities, fixed income, foreign exchange, private equity, real estate, infrastructure, timber and commodities. OIM's staff are all based in New York but come from over 30 countries.

    The consultant will report to the Business Applications IT Project Manager at the Office of Investment Management (OIM) of the United Nations Joint Staff Pension Fund (UNJSPF) and work under his overall guidance.

    Through this reporting arrangement, the contractor will implement the deliverables described in this Terms of Reference (TOR) in consultation with the IT Project Manager.


    Responsibilities:

    • Work with the UNJSPF/OIM's Data and Analytics team to implement the new Financial Data Warehouse.
    • Liaise the vendor to provide any information and assistance required for the successful implementation of the system.
    • Analyse and evaluate requirements while providing functional expertise and guidance throughout the implementation project.
    • Define the scope of the project in collaboration with business teams and Data and Analytics project manager.
    • Create a detailed work plan which identifies and sequences the activities needed to successfully complete the project.
    • Gather and document requirements from key stakeholders.
    • Work with functional business teams to define end-to-end, future state workflows and associated roles and responsibilities.
    • Develops detailed functional specifications and user documentation for the new system.
    • Determine the resources (e.g., time, people) required to complete the project and work with project leaders to ensure the appropriate resourcesare allocated to the project.
    • Develop and monitor a schedule for project completion that effectively allocates the resources to the activities.
    • Determine objectives and measures upon which the project will be evaluated at completion.
    • Execute the project according to the project plan.
    • Set up files for project documentation based on PMO templates and ensure that all project information is appropriately documented andsecured.
    • Set up Project Dashboard and keep up to date.
    • Monitor the progress of the project and adjust as necessary to ensure the successful completion of the project.
    • Identify risks to project scope, schedule, and budget.
    • Track risks and issues until they are resolved.
    • Establish a communication schedule to update stakeholders on progress of the project.
    • Review quality of work completed with project team on a regular basis to ensure that it meets the project standards. Conduct User AcceptanceTesting (UAT) as features become available.
    • Evaluate outcomes of the project as established during planning phase.
    • Conduct post-implementation reviews of the project to incorporate lessons learned.
    Qualifications/special skills


    Advanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent) in a business or technical field such as finance, Economics, Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Mathematics, Statistics or related field.

    An advanced degree or industry certification such as the CPA or CFA is a strong plus.
    A first-level university degree in combination with qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.

    A minimum of 5 years of experience managing and leading the implementation of a financial data warehouse with successful delivery of complex projects specifically relating to data and analytics is required.

    Financial services industry experience with thorough understanding of Front office, middle office and back-office workflows at an Investment bank / Asset manager / Pension fund is required.

    Subject matter expert of asset classes in scope i.e. Equities, Fixed Incomes, Alternative investments and Derivatives is required. Experience in developing/implementing/optimizing business processes is desirable. Deep understanding of the entities in scope i.e. Security, Issuer, Prices, Positions, Transactions, desirable. Analytical and integration experience involving complex data sets is desirable. Working knowledge of end-to-end data management workflows for each entity in scope is desirable.

    Languages

    English and French are the working languages of the UN Secretariat. For this position, fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another UN official language is desirable.
