- Help students attain an optimum level of physical, social, emotional health, and provide immunizations.
- Carry out health assessments and screening for deficits in vision, hearing, growth, and/or development of students.
- Asses the status of student and staff immunization documentation, when necessary.
- Maintain students' files of health and medical history.
- Develop and implement health plans for students with specific health needs.
- Plan and implement school health management protocols and procedures, especially for emergency situations.
- Provide referrals, to parents or staff, for intervention and remediation of abnormal or worrying health conditions affecting students.
- Provide ongoing health counseling to students, parents, and staff.
- Complete medical paperwork, when necessary.
- Establish and maintain a comprehensive health program for students, parents, and employees of the district.
- Call parents to suggest pick up of students who might be uncomfortable or might have developed a contagious illness.
- Contact parents and teachers with any medical emergency.
- Educate students on proper hand washing and other health care and safety issues.
- Monitor and dispense prescription medications based on instructions from parents or guardians.
- Develop and manage school health and wellness program.
- Utilize resources to provide appropriate healthcare to students and staff.
- Ensure that all activities conform to district guidelines.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor of Nursing required
- Registered Nurse License required
- One year of experience at a school or in an educational environment, preferred
- Impeccable organization skills
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite
- Satisfactory criminal background check and unprofessional conduct check as required by School Safety Legislation.
