    Job Summary
    Plans and implements Community Service Program activities within the School of Dentistry. Ensures goals and objectives are in accordance with Community Service Program strategy and initiatives. Interprets program policies and reports outcomes to program stakeholders.
    Manages the clinic flow and operations of various outreach dental services to vulnerable populations. Contributes to the wellness of local communities throughout the state of Utah.

    This is an on-site position primarily stationed at the Rose Park Dental Clinic with travel as necessary to outreach events.

    This is a 40 hour/week position and requires a flexible work schedule and availability to work on the weekends as necessary.

    Essential Functions
    Oversees community outreach operations and coordinates with community organizations and partners to coordinate dental outreach events and workshops.

    Oversees the overall clinic flow and care coordination for onsite mobile and dental outreach events.

    Responsible to fill in with chairside dental assisting or front desk responsibilities as needed.

    Develops and maintains relationships with community partners.


    Responsible for operating and driving the mobile transit van and transporting all clinical/IT equipment and instruments to mobile clinic sites and outreach events throughout the state of Utah.

    Responsible to load and prepare the mobile transit van for mobile and outreach events. Sets up and takes down all mobile equipment. Required to be on-site for the duration of the mobile or community service event.

    Responsible to oversee routine maintenance of the mobile transit van with Fleet Services.

    Responsible to conduct survey and data collection for mobile clinic and outreach events.

    Develops and implements program goals and objectives.

    Ensures competency of staff through the development and/or presentation of educational programs and through on going staff performance evaluations.

    Monitors program quality, safety, and effectiveness and researches improvement methods.

    Helps establish program budget; monitors related expenditures and ensures budget goals are met.

    Assists with grant applications and other fundraising activities related to dental outreach events.

    Prepares the State Primary Care Grant quarterly reports and reports on program status to key stakeholders.

    Inspects equipment for damage, equipment failures, and ensures the safe use of the equipment while performing assigned duties.

    Assigns, directs and reviews work of support staff.

    Extensive knowledge of dental treatment workflows, and the ability to provide care as described in the School of Dentistry department's policies and procedures manual.

    Proficient leadership skills.

    Demonstrated knowledge of dental clinical operations.

    Ability to provide care appropriate to the population served.

    Ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined above.

    Demonstrated human relations and effective communication skills.

    Ability to quickly learn new procedures and processes.

    Able to prioritize and multi-task in a fast paced environment.

    Ability to develop relationships with patients, students, staff, and community partners.

    Dental background preferred. Bilingual in Spanish preferred. Epic experience preferred.

    Comments
    This position requires frequent travel to rural areas throughout the state of Utah. Some weekends and extended work hours may be required.

    The staff member must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on his or her assigned unit.

    The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of life span growth and development and the ability to assess data regarding the patient's status and provide care as described in the department's policies and procedures manual.

    Minimum Qualifications

    Bachelor's degree in a related area or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience).

    Four to six years of progressively more responsible management experience.

    Background knowledge of hiring department's area of specialization in order to analyze, plan and draw conclusions for recommendations to superiors.

    Demonstrated leadership skills in planning and directing employees and processes in order to effectively monitor and develop subordinates and to ensure the smooth operation of department.

    Completion of provided supervisory training within one year of employment may be required. Master's degree in a related area may be preferred.
