Job Responsibilities
This is a TEMPORARY, HOURLY PAID position.
With our Agency's mission to support the recovery of people with mental illnesses, we provide a complete array of medical and support services for children, adults, and families throughout South Carolina.
This position is located at the Department of Mental Health - C.M. Tucker Nursing Care Center, Stone, 2200 Harden Street, Columbia, SC 29203.
As the Licensed Practical Nurse, working under general supervision of a Nursing Supervisor, you will be responsible for nursing care of residents on a unit. You will also direct and supervise Certified Nursing Assistant in giving nursing care.
Responsibilities for this Licensed Practical Nurse include but are not limited to:
State Minimum Requirements: Successful completion of a registered nursing education program for professional nursing or an equivalent course of study from a registered nursing education program per Section of the South Carolina Nurse Licensure Act.
Agency (Facility) Minimum Requirements: Licensure as a licensed practical nurse by the South Carolina Board of Nursing and at least one (1) year of nursing experience.

Additional Comments
The selected candidate must have knowledge of practical nursing procedures, sanitation, personal hygiene, basic health, safety practices, and human anatomy. Ability to maintain attention to detail and to make accurate technical and physical observations of patients. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Ability to maintain accurate medical documentation. Knowledge of relevant federal and state regulations and laws. Ability to work effectively with people from a variety of socioeconomic, racial, ethnic, and educational backgrounds. Ability to lift and move patients. Ability to lift up to fifty (50) pounds; may be required to lift more during times of emergency. Ability to stand, walk, reach, pull, push, stop, bend and climb at least two or three flights of stairs. Ability to tolerate noise level and circulate in resident areas for long periods. Must be able to work repetitive unusual resident behaviors.
