- Assures a hospitable and welcoming presence for parish visitors, providing appropriate assistance and/ or referral to visitors. Answers phone calls, refers neighbors correctly to SVdP, and assures accurate and prompt transmission of messages.
- Provides general information to persons calling or visiting the parish. Utilizes other church, social service, community and/ or government directories to provide accurate and helpful information to visitors.
- E-mails St. Vincent de Paul calls daily to the SVDP volunteers.
- Maintains a Parish Events calendar that includes the classes, events, and sacraments happening at SJV. Works with parish staff to oversee scheduling of parish facilities by approved organizations.
- Provides clerical assistance as requested by the staff including calling to schedule or confirm meetings, filing, collating, copying, sorting and preparing labels, etc.
- Working under the general direction of the PAA and other staff, coordinates and supervisors the daily office volunteers.
- Distributes incoming mail and ensures the mailing of outgoing mail.
- Maintains inventory of and orders parish office supplies as needed.
- Updates information on our website as directed, creates weekly pre-formated reports, posts to Facebook info created by staff members, creates staff meeting agendas.
- Checks and responds as necessary to the general SJV email.
- Provides assistance to parishioners requesting Mass intentions and Mass cards and provides information about donations
- Assists with the assembly of weekly parish bulletin.
- Provides substantial support for various events including the Annual Gala Dinner and Auction, the Del and Darleene Brown Commemorative Golf Tournament, Vacation Bible Camp, and the Parish Picnic.
- Assists with record keeping.
- Works with the staff to keep printed and social media information current and relevant.

Description
POSITION PURPOSE
To greet and assist visitors and callers to the parish, provide clerical and computer assistance to staff members, working with various volunteers and staff members to assist with parish mailings and bulletin assembly, maintain parishioner data system, and event planning support.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
QUALIFICATIONS
We are looking for an enthusiastic self-starter who is willing to ask questions and learn about the day-to-day needs of running a church. We expect to train someone for many of the duties in this position, so general competency with computers and pleasant in-person and phone manners are key. Must complete and pass a background check and Safe Environment program components as required by the Archdiocese within 30 days of job offer.
ABOUT ST. JOHN MARY VIANNEY
St. John Mary Vianney Church is a Catholic parish of 800 households in Kirkland. Founded 52 years ago as part of the St. Edward's Seminary, the parish has focused on outreach to the general Kirkland and Kenmore community and continues to strive to be a "Light on Finn Hill" for all.
Any offered salary is determined based on internal equity, internal salary ranges, market data, applicant's skills and prior relevant experience, certain degrees and certifications.
