    Senior Corporate Counsel, Data Center Infrastructure Attorney at Microsoft

    We are in search of a dynamic, highly motivated, and experienced attorney to aid in Microsoft's global cloud expansion as a Senior Corporate Counsel, Data Center Infrastructure Attorney.

    The legal team supporting the Cloud Operations + Innovation division has an immediate opening for a senior attorney to offer legal advice concerning geographic and market-specific regulations affecting data center expansion and license to operate. This role entails establishing a scale program for regulatory legal guidance and conducting legal gap assessments.

    Responsibilities:

    • Lead the legal analysis to support Microsoft's expansion of data centers into new markets and ensure successful operations in existing data center markets.
    • Create a scalable legal advisory program to offer comprehensive guidance on regulations affecting license to operate and specific market requirements.
    • Provide legal counsel on the data center regulatory landscape on a market-by-market basis and conduct legal gap analyses as needed.
    • Identify and resolve business and legal risks, advise on regulatory matters, and contribute insights on regulatory developments related to data center infrastructure.
    • Collaborate with team members across organizational boundaries, including permitting, land use, government affairs, and communications teams.
    • Build trusted advisor relationships with business clients and executives.
    • Exercise independent judgment on legal matters to advise middle and senior management business partners.

    Qualifications:

    • Juris Doctorate Degree or Equivalent International Degree, or completion of a Legal Apprenticeship.
    • Active license to practice law in a jurisdiction and ability to meet admission requirements in relevant jurisdiction.
    • Minimum 7 years of experience as a practicing attorney or equivalent practice of law.
    • Experience in regulatory analysis.

    Legal Counsel IC- The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is $141,800 - $248,800 per year. Pay varies based on specific work locations in San Francisco Bay and New York City metropolitan areas.
