The Quality Assurance (QA)
Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day Quality performance and overall the hiring, training, coaching, and development of the Quality Assurance Technicians team.
This role assists in recordkeeping and verification of key activities and ensures adherence to good manufacturing practices (GMP), food safety, GFSI standards and product quality.
They exhibit excellent troubleshooting, communication, and organizational skills to ensure quality standards are met on a daily basis and facilitate factory quality and food safety improvements.
Scope of ResponsibilitiesHire, develop and manage team performance (Quality Associates). Create an inclusive environment that embraces our values and purpose.Effectively communicate with the team across shifts to establish priorities and provide relevant informationManage scheduling, coverage needs, scope of responsibilities, and ensure appropriate delegation of tasksReview quality assurance and production records and provide dispositions as neededFacilitate resolution to food safety and quality deviationsEnsure adequate laboratory supplies and consumables are maintainedMaintain laboratory instrumentation and quality systems, such as Analytical Methods, Calibration, and Record Retention to ensure compliance to quality standardsMaintain Good Laboratory Practices for material sampling, analytical procedures, and chemical controlConduct food safety and quality verification checks and trend analysis of laboratory data.
Generate reports with key learnings and continuous improvement recommendationsParticipate in audit programs and conduct audits to assure Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and food safety/quality complianceEnsure incoming materials and Contract Manufacturing products' verification processes are compliantCreate and effectively implement Quality departmental procedures such as, SOP's, SSOP's, MSS, changeover procedures and test methodsSupport the factory trial process as a core team member to determine feasibility of new products and or process changes related to product and packagingConduct investigations on critical consumer complaints, provide report of findings and corrective actionsRemain current with industry technological changes and attend necessary training seminarsDrive continuous improvement initiatives and implement best practicesServe as back-up for the Quality Assurance Manager in her/his absenceMay perform other duties as assignedSpecific Knowledge & SkillsEducation:Bachelor of Science Degree (Biology, Chemistry, Microbiology, Food Science, or closely related field of study)3+ years of experience food safety/quality/sanitation in the food industry1+ years of experience managing people (preferred)PCQI and HACCP certifiedGFSI certification preferredWorking ConditionsRegularly work in a factory environmentPeriodic off-shift and occasional weekend work requiredRequired to regularly sitMust be able to concentrate for extended periods of time paying close attention to detailMust be able to keyboard for extended periods of timeMust be capable of using protective equipment such as hard hats, safety glasses/goggles, safety shoes, hearing protection, air masks, respirators, etc.
