- Design and implement internal restructurings resulting from changing business needs, post-acquisition integration, etc.
- Work closely with the Head of Tax to lead the Company's planning, analysis, and response to the OECD's BEPS Pillar 2 framework, including implementation of any necessary restructuring of business operations.
- Respond to tax planning needs of business units and assist in the identification, development, and implementation of strategic tax planning initiatives, both international and domestic.
- Monitor Company business developments and projects to identify potential tax consequences and ensure that relevant tax considerations are communicated to the appropriate business decision makers.
- Ensure that the tax positions taken by the Company have been properly reviewed, documented, and executed appropriately.
- Monitor new developments in relevant tax laws and plan responses to relevant changes, as appropriate.
- Manage tax audits, examinations, and inquiries by providing technical tax analysis and interacting with tax authorities directly and indirectly through local advisors.
- Provide tax support in connection with acquisitions, mergers, investments, and dispositions.
- Master's degree in tax or law degree strongly preferred.
- 15 + years of experience in tax, with 8 to 10 years of solid tax planning experience in a combination of (1) large, multinational public accounting firms or law firms and/or (2) large, multinational corporations.
- Significant experience in international and foreign tax planning matters is required.
- Experience in other tax areas is desirable (e.g., tax controversy, tax compliance, tax accounting).
- Superior technical, analytical, problem solving, negotiation, presentation, and writing skills.
- Ability to communicate technical tax topics effectively and concisely to both tax and non-tax audiences.

Reporting to the Global Head of Tax, the Vice President, Tax Planning, is responsible for tax planning and providing internal tax advice related to all legal entities, divisions, and operations of Western Union worldwide. The Vice President, Tax Planning will manage a team of three tax professionals based in Denver as well as a team of external advisors to assist in delivery and execution of responsibilities.

Salary
The base salary range is $210,000 - $275,000 USD per year. An annual bonus and stock incentives align with individual and company performance. Actual salaries will vary based on candidates' qualifications, skills, and competencies.
