General Statement of Duties

Plans and supervises general recreation programs or assists in the development and administration of a specialized recreation program on a County-wide basis; does related work as required.

Closing date:This position closes on Monday, May 13, 2024.

Essential Duties

The employee must have strong knowledge of the philosophy and objectives of community recreation, specifically of recreation programming; exceptional leadership, supervisory, and problem-solving skills required; knowledge and hands-on experience with children in a variety of settings.Must have the ability to work on own initiative without close supervision or guidance, good organizational skills; effective oral and written communication skills.

Oversee and supervise staff at multiple sites for summer day camp program
Must have considerable knowledge and hands-on experience with managing staff who are working directly with youth in a variety of settings
Possess exceptional leadership, supervisory, and problem-solving skills.
Directly supervises, trains, and works with Recreation Center Coordinators, Instructors, Aides.
Ability to work independently
Effective oral and written communication skills
Assesses and communicates directly with parents/guardians of participants in regard to their behaviors.
Evaluate program needs to ensure program safety and quality.,
While representing Henrico County establish and maintain positive and constructive relationships with campers, parents, guardians, staff, program administrators, and facility administrators
Effectively and accurately complete necessary forms and reports.,
Position is for employment at summer day camp for June 12, 2024 to August 10, 2024

Minimum Qualifications

Possession of a bachelor's degree in recreation or a field directly related to the needs of the assigned position, and one (1) year of related work experience; OR, any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
