General Statement of Duties

Collaborates with County officials and departments in developing photographic, video and other materials designed to serve their public relations and communication needs; develops or assists County departments in developing and implementing positive public relations and social media communications and materials; and performs other duties as assigned.
Essential Duties
Extensive knowledge, experience and demonstrated expertise in:
- Government public relations
- English language, grammar and writing for publication, including familiarity with AP Style
- Creating engaging text and photo content for social media platforms (FB, X/Twitter, Instagram, Nextdoor, YouTube)
- Writing news releases, speeches for public officials and scripts for video productions
- Managing communications projects, including coordination of news conferences and news media events
- Independently planning, coordinating and completing multiple social media campaigns simultaneously
- Independently developing optimal posting schedules, utilizing web traffic and customer engagement metrics
- Communicating effectively in crisis situations, including the use of social media
- Responding to news media requests
- Planning, coordinating and completing multiple assignments simultaneously
- Online customer service and engagement skills
Minimum Qualifications
Four (4) year degree in journalism, photography, communications, or other relevant field preferred and three (3) years of relevant public relations work experience; OR, any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities.
Additional Information
Expected hiring range will be $57,646-$67,926.
Valid driver's license to perform assigned job duties at various locations Countywide.
