    We're seeking a future team member in the role of Director, Full-Stack Developer to join our Liquidity Direct team. This role is located in New York, NY and is Hybrid (3 days per week in office).

    In this role, you'll make an impact in the following ways:

    Analytical skills, along with the ability to understand the business ask first before kicking off with design and development.

    Initiative & Ownership - we want someone who can run with the task and see it through completion. This could range from performing analysis with the business, to testing the app in conjunction with other tech teams.

    Define and maintain architectures, technology standards, and best practices for applications, middleware, and databases.

    Responsible for design, prototyping and delivery of software solutions.

    Will also own management of the technical environment (software, data, interfaces, integration), research of new tools and technologies, and development of better analytics solutions.


    Work with the development team to provide technical guidance, code review, as assistance in debugging, while continuing to contribute directly to the success of the project deliverables.

    15+ years' experience.

    Knowledge of mainframe platforms and/or prior experience porting applications from mainframe to distributed platform is highly preferred.

    To be successful in this role, we're seeking the following:

    Bachelor's degree in computer science engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent work experience required; advanced degree is beneficial.


    14+ years of experience in software development required; experience in the securities or financial services industry with in-depth knowledge in trading application, STP processing and security master is a plus.

    Java, Spring Boot, REST, Python.

    Oracle or any other Relational DB.

    Micro-Services Architecture, Scalable High Resiliency Systems, Event driven architecture, Micro Frontends, Workflow management is preferred.

    Angular (or React / JavaScript).

    Knowledge of Cloud Computing including applications migration, optimizing resources, and ensuring data security and compliance.

    Experience with Big Data technologies like Apache Hadoop, HBase, Spark, Hive, Snowflake.

    Agile Development experience. SDLC Tools like Maven, Jenkins, Git, etc. Testing tools like Junit, Selenium, Mockito, Cucumber, etc.

    Experience with web authentication protocols, single single-on (SSO) solutions, and external system integrations is a huge plus.

    Consults with internal business groups to provide highly advanced application software development services or technical support.

    Must have thorough and demonstrative knowledge on or both the user-side frontend of a website, as well as the backend, server-side that powers the user-side.

    Additional requirements include intermediate understanding of security principles, relational databases and architecture design principles.

    Consults to IT and business managers on issues, questions and problems related to his/her area of expertise. Accountable for resolving highly complex problems that have impact on the corporation's ability to conduct business. Programming well-designed, testable, efficient code. Analyze, design and develop tests and test-automation suites.

    Develop flowcharts, layouts and documentation to satisfy requirements and solutions. Maintain software functionality and currency (technical debt and gain). Actively participate in code reviews. Integrate software components into a fully functional software system. Apply security and privacy principles. Uses in-depth knowledge of various technologies to establish and influence implementation of broad-based technology strategy for large IT Divisions.

    Active learning engagement. Complete all required mandatory training / policy awareness curricula on time. Use learning tools such as Pluralsight to complete both recommended and aspirational targets set in personal development plans. Stays abreast of emerging technologies. Educates business leaders and prepares presentations for the business on IT strategies. Advocates for innovative, creative technology solutions.

    Mentors junior level engineers.

    Expertise in using a specific application development toolkit and proficiency of front end and backend development coding languages such as C#, Java, HTML, NodeJS, CSS, JSON, Angular, JavaScript.

    Must also have proficiency in application frameworks and containerization. Communications and organization skills; teamwork skills; possess strong interpersonal skills to support mentoring.

    Contributes to the achievement of Application Development objectives. Job holder must have understanding interdependencies and business impact of future IT plans. They must have extensive experience selecting and implementing vendor-specific methodologies and prior consulting experience with structured methodologies. Job holder must have broad experience with multi-platform development tools and toolkits.

    BNY Mellon assesses market data to ensure a competitive compensation package for our employees.

    The base salary for this position is expected to be between $139,000 and $275,000 per year at the commencement of employment.

    However, base salary if hired will be determined on an individualized basis, including as to experience and market location, and is only part of the BNYM total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, discretionary bonuses, short and long-term incentive packages, and Company-sponsored benefit programs.


    This position is at-will and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, change in geographic location, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
