Salary Range:
Compensation will be commensurate to selected hire's experience.


Required Education and Experience**:


  • Bachelor's in Biology, Neuroscience, or Microbiology, or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:


  • Knowledge of laboratory maintenance and equipment

Physical Requirements:


  • May lift/move/carry moderately heavy weight

Preferred Qualifications**:


  • 2 years of experience working in a neuroscience research lab
  • Experience managing a rodent colony, organizational skills, previous experience as a lab manager or research assistant, good communication skills

Responsibilities:

Maintains Mouse Colony:Examines animals on a daily basis. Performs health checks for breeding and experimental animals. Breeds animals to expand the colony. Weans young mice. Performs tail clips and genotyping. Keeps records of animal inventory. Uses computers and laboratory or technical equipment to perform data analysis, statistical analysis, and technical evaluation of research experiments and results. Evaluates and summarizes results.

General Lab Duties:General laboratory duties such as preparing reagents, buffers, and stock solutions ; research equipment maintenance and operation; maintaining a safe working environment. Uses computers and laboratory or technical equipment to perform data analysis.

Documentation:Oversees and maintains an accurate inventory of laboratory inventory and supplies. Maintains an accurate laboratory notebook, writes protocols, and maintains safety standards.

Training new personnel:Trains new personnel on lab procedures.

Assist with biosafety and animal research inspections:Ensure compliance with biosafety permit and animal use protocols, monitor expiration dates of laboratory reagents, facilitate proper disposal of biohazardous and chemical waste. Assists undergraduate and/or graduate students and other laboratory, technical or field staff involved in research and p erforms other duties as assigned.
