Position Summary
UNM-Taos is excited to announce an external competitive search for a 1.0 FTE F9 Lecturer II/III (open rank) in Early Childhood Education (ECED). The successful candidate will be expected to assume a teaching load of 6-9 credit hours per semester with release time/course reassignment for potential administrative/curricular responsibilities of assisting the Teacher Residency component of the program and the Practicum hours, NAEYC accreditation, student mentoring, and/or other duties as assigned in ECED. The primary duties of this position will be to teach lower division ECED courses and assist the program coordinator with program assignments, which include but are not limited to, the following:
Internal and External Committee assignments
Professional development activities
Curricular and program development
Mentoring of students
Administrative duties as necessary
The position may also include teaching to the dual credit population in our Friday Early College Program. This faculty member must be willing to try a variety of instructional approaches, commit to being part of a Professional Learning Community, as well as keep regular office hours each week, and other academic duties. The successful candidate will demonstrate commitment to equitable student success in their teaching and the ability to partner with other faculty and staff to increase college-wide student success.

UNM-Taos offers a Certificate and Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education. We offer the 11 statewide ECED courses and general education courses toward both ECED.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
Applicants must have a minimum of a Master's Degree in the discipline or subfield in which they are applying to teach. Applicant must have completed a program of study in the discipline or subfield in which they teach, with coursework at least one level above that of the courses being taught or developed (e.g., completed a minimum of 18 graduate credit hours in the discipline or subfield in which they teach or tested experience that is determined to be equivalent to the degree).
Preferred Qualifications:
PhD in Early Childhood Education or related field
Teaching experience in a post-secondary institution
Proficiency teaching in a community college environment
Experience in curriculum innovation for diverse learning styles
Commitment to being part of a Professional Learning Community
A demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student success, as well as working with broadly diverse communities
Demonstrated ability to work with students at a variety of academic levels
Experience in academic advising and mentoring, including working with student groups
Experience with the National Association of the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) higher education accreditation
Proficiency with emergent curriculum
