- Manage and develop a rapidly growing team of scientists to successfully translate the platform from discovery to development.
- Oversee and lead the optimization of natural nanoparticle delivery systems to achieve superior efficacy, safety, potency, and durability.
- Establish, maintain, and be accountable for critical timelines pertaining to platform advancement.
- Work cross-functionally with research organization to prioritize, optimize, and nominate development candidates, design, and execute IND-enabling animal studies across disease indications, and establish scalable manufacturing process with analytical characterization.
- Interpret complex biological in vitro and in vivo data.
- Propose and drive new therapeutic demonstrations of the platform.
- Stay up to date in the field of delivery, identify possible collaborations, and present key information to both internal and external stakeholders.
- Manage both internal and external resources, including but not limited to CRO's, collaborations, and partners.
- Generate new intellectual property and execute against existing intellectual property portfolio
- PhD in chemistry, biology, or engineering-related field (minimum 15+ years of relevant research experience in academia or industry)
- Broad leadership experience in nanoparticle-based delivery including natural and synthetic nanoparticles.
- Prior experience with high-throughput formulation screening in vivo and in vitro
- Expertise in nucleic-acids therapeutics and delivery
- Experience with protein/peptide delivery desirable
- Experience with oral delivery of protein and nucleic acid-based therapeutics
- Experience with delivery platforms for novel drug modalities including understanding in formulation and characterization.
- Skilled in the discovery, optimization, and use of cell-based assays for mechanistic studies
- Analytical assay development
- Ability to solve complex problems in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work cross-functionally in a matrixed environment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong people management skills with demonstrated ability to manage high performing interdisciplinary teams, mentor and coach scientists and promote career development.

Reporting to the Chief Platform Officer, the Vice President of Delivery Sciences will be a key member of the R&D leadership team responsible for leading a cross-functional team of scientists developing and optimizing our innovative programable medicines.
