Orbital Therapeutics aims to enhance global health by unleashing the full potential of RNA-based medicines (excluding small interfering RNA) to treat human disease in ways that were not previously possible.

The company is building a first-in-kind platform at the intersection of RNA technology, delivery methods, data science and automation to develop an expansive portfolio of medicines, initially focused in the areas of vaccines, immunomodulation, and protein replacement.


Position Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated Research Associate to help support our _in vivo_ delivery discovery program teams.

You will work with a cross-functional team to execute the _in vivo_ studies to optimize the delivery system of our RNA medicines.


Responsibilities:


  • Execute daily routine _in vivo _tasks such as animal handling, dosing (IV, IM, SC, IP), blood collection (terminal and nonterminal), and euthanasia.
  • Execute _in vivo _support at study termination including tissue collection and sample processing/preparation for downstream _ex vivo_
  • Support vivarium manager with daytoday animal facility maintenance activities (e.g., study scheduling, animal/supply ordering, etc.).
  • Maintain highquality detailed experimental records within animal colony management software and electronic laboratory notebook infrastructure(s).
  • Demonstrate strong attention to detail, familiarity with animal care policies, and proactive willingness to acquire new skills to enhance/expand technical skill set.
  • Present study observations and data in crossfunctional project meetings.

Requirements:


  • B.S. in Biology, Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or related life sciences field.
  • Must have at least 13 years of industry or academic experience required.
  • Robust experience with intravenous (IV), intraperitoneal (IP), intramuscular (IM) and subcutaneous (SQ) injections of laboratory rodents required.
  • Experience with animal necropsy and tissue harvest is required.
  • Experience with bioluminescent imaging machinery and capabilities (e.g. IVIS, Spectral Imaging LAGO) is a plus.
  • Experience working with rats is desirable.
  • Experience with _ex vivo_ experimental tools such as flow cytometry, Meso Scale Discovery (MSD), ELISA, RT-PCR etc. is a plus.
  • Excellent organizational skills and proficiency in multitasking in an extremely fastpaced environment with both competing and shifting priorities.
  • Experience maintaining an electronic laboratory notebook and following protocols, familiarity with programs such as Excel and Prism for data entry.
  • Experience with animal colony management software (e.g. Studylog) is a plus.
  • Team player, detailed oriented and outstanding organizational and communication skills (verbal and written).
