    Position Summary:
    LifeMoves | Housing & Employment Department is currently seeking an experienced, motivated and team oriented Employment Specialist.

    This Employment Specialist will be dedicated to working with our Maple Street Shelter clients, located in Redwood City for 6 months.

    After the 6 months, this role may transition to a full time Case Manager position depending on the needs of the Maple Street site and staff.

    Maple Street provides emergency and transitional housing to adults working towards overcoming homelessness and diagnosed mental illness.

    Under the supervision of the Manager of Employment Services, the Employment Specialist acts as a strong support system for clients in their employment search.

    The goal of the Employment Specialist is to assist clients to successfully secure stable employment that ultimately leads to stable housing and self-sufficiency.

    Their responsibilities include developing and implementing individual employment plans for a caseload of clients, working collaboratively with the clients' primary case manager, as well as assisting the Manager of Employment Services with other program tasks.

    Employment SpecialistDevelop, implement and revise individual employment plans and consistently monitor progress toward client goalsProvide on-going supportive functions in accordance with the employment planAct as liaison for LifeMoves and our community partnersCommunicate appropriately and as needed with clients, case managers and community partnersStay current and knowledgeable about external community resources, referrals and service linkagesAssist clients with resume building, cover letter assistance, professional development and navigating employment resourcesFacilitate at least one employment workshop a monthAbility to manage caseload of at least 15 clientsKnowledge of online employment resources (Indeed, Glassdoor, Snagajob, etc.)In collaboration with Manager, develop relationships with external partners to provide linkage between resources and agenciesMaintain client and program records in accordance with applicable standards and policiesMaintains a high level of ethical conduct regarding confidentiality, dual-relationships, and professional statureParticipate in continuing education activities, remaining knowledgeable in area(s) of expertiseAttend weekly case consultation meetings and monthly trainings; meet regularly with supervisor to exchange pertinent information and receive supervisionOther duties as assigned by supervisorPosition QualificationsBachelor's degree in social work, psychology or related field, with a minimum of one year case management/specialist experienceKnowledge utilizing Microsoft Programs (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Teams and Excel)Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; proven ability to collaborate with community partnersUnderstanding of the issues faced by homeless individuals and other marginalized populations in crisisAvailability to work occasional evenings Experience working with people with severe mental illness, homeless individuals, and populations in recoveryAn understanding of ideas and practices that promote diversity, equity and inclusion; and a commitment to ongoing professional development in this area.
