- Lead the design, development, and implementation of grid automation projects, including SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) systems, distribution automation, and smart grid technologies.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to assess grid requirements, identify automation opportunities, and develop innovative solutions tailored to client needs.
- Conduct feasibility studies, risk assessments, and cost-benefit analyses to evaluate the potential impact and ROI of automation initiatives.
- Design and optimize control algorithms, communication protocols, and hardware/software architectures for grid automation applications.
- Integrate renewable energy resources, energy storage systems, and electric vehicle infrastructure into the grid through advanced automation and control strategies.
- Work closely with utility partners and regulatory agencies to ensure compliance with industry standards, regulations, and cybersecurity requirements.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous learning.
- Stay abreast of emerging trends, technologies, and best practices in grid automation, and apply this knowledge to drive technological advancements and competitive differentiation.
- Participate in industry conferences, technical forums, and standards development activities to represent the company and contribute to thought leadership in grid automation.
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field; Master's degree preferred.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or eligibility for licensure required.
- years of experience in electrical engineering, with a focus on grid automation, SCADA systems, and power system control.
- Proficiency in programming languages (e.g., Python, C/C++) and software tools for automation, data analytics, and simulation (e.g., MATLAB/Simulink, PowerFactory, DMS).
- Strong understanding of power system dynamics, control theory, and real-time monitoring techniques.
- Experience with grid modernization initiatives, including DER (Distributed Energy Resources) integration, microgrid control, and demand response.
- Familiarity with industry standards and protocols for grid automation, such as IEC 61850, DNP3, and Modbus.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to diverse stakeholders.
- Proven track record of successful project delivery, from conceptual design through commissioning and deployment.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, managing multiple priorities and deadlines effectively.
- Willingness to travel to project sites, client meetings, and industry events as required.
