Are you good with your hands? Do you have experience working on automation equipment, or repairing equipment or vehicles? Do you work on your automobile, motorcycle, bicycle? Fix lawn mowers, make intricate crafts, build electronics or telescopes, and like to "get it right", with attention to detail.
Then you might be the right person for this position.
The test/assembly technician assembles products comprising precision optical, mechanical, and electronic components, software and systems, and the assembly. Plus the test and qualification of the same. Documenting procedures and working closely with engineering is required to produce the best products.
Essential Functions
- Assemble precision optical/mechanical assemblies in cleanroom environment
- Follow instructions and blueprints, with the ability to think and troubleshoot to resolve issues.
- Soldiers and wires electronics and systems
- Measures parts to specified tolerances.
- Cleans, assembles, disassembles and replaces parts as required.
- Uses hand tools, chemicals, adhesives and epoxies.
- Uses equipment such as arbor press, grinder, belt sander, drill press, magnifying glass (microscope), ohm meter, epoxy machine, ovens, sonic machine, test rigs, fixtures and gauges, soldering equipment.
- Tests functional performance of assembly.
- Performs functional tests of assemblies in accordance with the acceptance test procedures.
- Records test results on the acceptance test data, and notes if passed
- Keep the assembly department and surrounding areas clean and free of foreign object damage.
- Keeps production supervisor advised of work status, workload, problems and progress as related to work assignments.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration.
Physical Demands
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
The employee frequently is required to stand, walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms, and lift loads up to 50 pounds without assistance.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m (one hour of lunch and breaks assumed). Rare evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.

None outside the local area
Required Education and Experience
High school diploma or GED or Trade School minimum and >5 years of related experience. Demonstrated mechanical aptitude through work experience or hobbies.
