    • Massachusetts Non-Profit Network Volunteer & Outreach Coordinator Charles River Watershed Association (CRWA)We work to protect, restore, and enhance the Charles River and its watershed using science, advocacy, and the law by developing science based strategies to increase resilience, protect public health, and promote environmental equity as we face a changing climate, together.

    Job Description Volunteer & Outreach Coordinator manages CRWAs hundreds of volunteers, engaging them in participatory science and hands-on clean up and restoration across the watershed.

    They are a critical member of CRWAs science and outreach teams, engaging with watershed residents to advance CRWAs mission.

    The Coordinator reports to the River Science & Restoration Program Manager and works closely with the programs and communications staff.

    The Volunteer & Outreach Coordinator is CRWAs lead for the Annual Charles River Earth Day Cleanup event, one of the largest one-day clean-up events in the country They will also be a vital part of CRWAs communications team, coordinating social media and organizing community events.

    RESPONSIBILITIES Engage current CRWA volunteers through clear, direct communication, and continually recruit new volunteersTrain volunteers for participatory science programsLead CRWAs Annual Earth Day Cleanup eventCelebrate volunteer success through continuous engagement, appreciation events, and other initiativesCoordinate and lead invasive species removal events with corporate teams and community members in local conservation areasCoordinate CRWAs education program, managing requests and coordinating opportunities, and representing CRWA at community or school eventsCoordinate communications and outreach for River Science & Education programs, including updating social media, sending newsletters, creating flyers, editing website pages, responding to public inquiries, and organizing eventsAssist with other CRWA communications and outreach activitiesConduct work in accordance with CRWAs diversity, equity, and inclusion initiativesProvide documentation for volunteer event sponsorships, grant reports, CRWAs annual report, volunteer waivers and participant forms, etc.

    Other administrative duties as neededQUALIFICATIONS Demonstrated enthusiasm for communicating with the public about CRWAs missionAbility to effectively engage volunteers and residents to advance CRWAs workExcellent verbal and written communication skillsHighly organized and detail-orientedAbility to manage multiple projects simultaneously, anticipate project/event needs, and problem-solve when challenges arisePrevious experience managing volunteers or as a volunteerEducational background and/or work experience in the environmental field is helpful but not requiredComfortable conducting work in the outdoors under all weather conditionsAbility to work with a diverse group of people from all backgrounds; multilingual is a plusDemonstrated high level of courtesy, tact, and professionalismCommitment to CRWAs missionAble to work evenings and weekends as neededThis position requires regular travel to and from CRWA's Newton field office and throughout the Charles River watershed; therefore, a valid driver's license and reliable access to a personal vehicle is necessary to perform the critical functions of this roleAPPLY TODAY At CRWA, we recognize that excellent candidates may not have every qualification listed but may still be a great fit for the job.

    COMPENSATION & BENEFITSThis is a full-time position based in Boston with competitive salary and benefits, including generous paid time off, employer contributions to health insurance premiums and retirement plan, and a public transit stipend.

    CRWAs office operates on a hybrid remote/in-person schedule. Starting salary for this position is $50,000 annually.
