    Description
    *Job Overview:
    We are seeking a creative and detail-oriented Elementary Media Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will be passionate about media and have a strong background in education or literacy services.

    *Responsibilities: •Coordinates planning, procedures, implementation and maintenance of the District automated library media management system and online catalog.


    • Provides assistance, manual instruction and in-service training for school media personnel for the library media management system.
    • Coordinates selection of online services and provides in-service training for school media personnel in electronic database searching.
    • Coordinates enhancements to the automated media management system with District Information Technology Services and outside vendors and/or consultants. Constructs and maintains an Internet web site.
    • Assists in planning and implementing media centers at new school sites.
    • Responds to requests for information from both in-system and out-of-system personnel.
    • Assists in the supervision of library media acquisition and processing personnel, as assigned.
    *Additional Job Functions:

    • Follows adopted policies and procedures in accordance with School Board priorities.
    • Conducts oneself in the best interest of students, in accordance with the highest traditions of public education and in support of the District's Mission Statement.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.

    Requirements:

    • Master's degree with certification in Educational Media, Library or Information Science, or related area.
    • Three (3) or more years of successful experience in education.
    • Successful experience with library media applications, web design, file servers and online reference services.
    • Demonstrated knowledge of computer technology for library media applications, such as the transfer of electronic records.
    • Successful experience planning and implementing workshops and in-service programs for teachers and paraprofessional staff.
    • Demonstrated ability to work with diverse groups, and effectively communicate, both orally and in writing.
