    The Ming Hsieh Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering of the USC Viterbi School of Engineering seeks qualified candidates for an Associate Research Administrator to support departmental research activity, contracts & grants, and other departmental financial needs.

    The core job duties are:

    • Provide institutional research support to assigned faculty, research associates/assistants, and postdocs with the submission of proposals to assure all necessary university and agency requirements are met for grant applications.
    • Prepare budgets and gather data necessary to submit proposals in accordance with agency and university guidelines
    • Identify needs and/or collect and prepare data deliverables necessary for decisionmaking and other institutional effectiveness functions, including: state and federal reports; maintaining a common data set for the institution; accreditation; ad hoc reports.
    • Oversee and respond to data requests and produce data to fulfill internal/external requests in a timely manner and with attention to detail and accuracy. Must be able to present results coherently, concisely, and in a manner that is appropriate to the audience
    • Develop methods for data collection to track outcomes, targets, and performance indicators as necessary to support institutional goal setting and performance monitoring.
    • Prepare payroll for research staff, faculty, research assistants, student workers, visiting scholars.
    • Reconcile and review monthly account statements and provide faculty with account summaries and projection reports on a monthly basis.
    Job duties may be added or modified as needed.

    Preferred Qualifications:


    Bachelor's degree with four years of account and budget experience, including knowledge of government and fund accounting and knowledge of university financial systems.

    Strong computer skills using MS Office Suite, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

    Excellent communication skills both written and verbal, ability to prioritize, organize, analyze, and work independently in a fast-paced work environment.

    Additional Information:
    This is a hybrid position. The Associate Research Administrator will be expected to work onsite for 3 days per week. This position is not eligible for fully remote work. The hourly rate range for this position is $ $46.14.
