    Summary:

    The Child Mind Institute is seeking a Development Communications Specialist to support the organization's fundraising efforts and donor communications. The role's responsibilities include creating and editing content for impact reports, event collateral, and donor outreach; providing writing and graphic design support for digital and direct mail fundraising campaigns; and maintaining internal systems for project management, planning, and reporting. The ideal candidate is a creative, well-organized, collaborative individual with the ability to thrive in a fast-moving, mission-driven environment.

    Reporting to the Associate Director of Development Communications and Annual Fund Programs, this is a full-time, exempt position split between remote work and our Midtown, NYC office.

    Responsibilities:

    • Help to, update, refine, and expand a robust inventory of development materials that communicate the organization's mission and impact, including the Annual Report.
    • Support the organization's digital and direct mail Annual Fund campaigns through writing, graphic design, and email marketing.
    • Support fundraising events communications including remarks, collateral, and relevant correspondence.
    • Provide writing and editing support for other members of the Development team on reports, messages, presentations, and other communications as needed.
    • Manage a dashboard of impact data from across the organization to inform development communication materials.
    • Maintain internal systems to track progress, centralize information, and organize development communication assets.
    • Collaborate with members of the Marketing and Communications team on projects as needed to enhance donor messaging while adhering to organizational branding guidelines.
    • Ensure clear and consistent messaging, style, and editorial standards.
    • Perform special projects or assignments as needed.

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's degree in related field from an accredited college or university.
    • Minimum 3 years of experience in the communication or development programs of a non-profit organization.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; proficiency in design tools (Photoshop, Adobe InDesign, or other), and CRM/email marketing systems preferred.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    • Experience in writing/editing/content creation for print and/or online venues.
    • Project management skills.
    • Experience with mental health or health content preferred.
    • Passion for the Child Mind Institute mission.
