    WHAT YOU'LL DO
    Our Research & Development team is proud of where we've been, but more interested in where we're going. This team drives creativity, growing our portfolio of products.

    Technical Innovation Manager to lead innovation initiatives and drive the development of new technologies, products and solutions.

    With a strong technical background, passion for innovation, and the ability to work with cross-functional teams as well as vendors in a fast-paced environment, Technical Innovation Manager will be responsible for identifying strategic opportunities, developing project proposals, and leading projects from concept to commercialization.

    Onsite at our Preston, WA office 5 days a week

    Annual Bonus Potential: 8% - Eligibility is based on the company hitting annual financial targets.

    Base Salary:
    $130,000 - $150,000 (depending on experience)

    Note:

    New hires typically receive between minimum and midpoint, however, we may go slightly higher based on experience, internal equity and market.


    • Identifies and evaluates emerging technologies, market trends, and customer needs to uncover new opportunities for innovation and determine their potential impact on company's initiatives and competitive position.
    • Works with internal and external partners to oversee the design, development, and testing of prototypes and proof-of-concept models, iterating based on feedback and insights.
    • Identifies and evaluates potential suppliers and vendors for ingredients, equipment, and technology, and establish strategic partnerships to support R&D goals.
    • Utilizes strong technical knowledge of food science, chemistry, and food processing to drive product development and optimization.
    • Leads the development of new food products, ingredients, and processes, leveraging market trends, consumer insights, and emerging technologies.
    • Works closely with cross-functional teams including Marketing, Operations, and Procurement to align initiatives with business objectives and market needs.
    • Drives process improvements and efficiency gains within the operations and product development, implementing best practices and adopting new methodologies as appropriate.
    • Identifies and protects intellectual property (IP) generated through innovation projects, working closely with legal counsel to file patents and trademarks as necessary.
    • In collaboration with I&I conduct market research and validation studies to assess the commercial potential of new products and technologies and make data-driven recommendations for investment.
    • Presents project updates, findings, and recommendations to stakeholders and solicits feedback to drive decision-making.

    WHAT YOU BRING

    • 7+ years of functional experience in food manufacturing and product development, with a firm understanding of food science principles, manufacturing processes and ingredient formulation.
    • 2+ years of vendor management experience, with a proven track record of building and maintaining successful relationships with suppliers and partners.
    • Proven experience in technical innovation, research and development, or a related field.
    • Knowledge of food and beverage technology, ingredient functionalities, chemistry, or engineering including processing and manufacturing
    • Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and motivate cross-functional teams.
    • Excellent project management skills with a track record of successfully delivering complex projects on time and within budget.
    • Deep understanding of emerging technologies, ingredients and market trends.
    • Strategic thinker with the ability to translate business needs into innovative technical solutions.
    • Bachelor's or Master's degree in food science or related discipline.
    • Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite (e.g., Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel).
