    Job Description

    Job Description

Toole Design Group in Boston, MA is looking to hire a talented full-time Graphic Designer II or Senior Graphic Designer with at least 7 years of experience in publication design and branding. Do you have a strong background in graphic design with an interest in the public good and improving our built environment? Would you like to work for a firm that is committed to the well-being of its employees? Do you enjoy working with diverse teams to tell stories that matter? Then we are looking for you to be an integral part of the office where you'll find an integrated team that realizes design excellence, quality, and innovation.

This Graphic Design position earns a competitive salary and great benefits, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, disability, retirement, a health savings account (HSA), and a flexible spending account (FSA). We practice what we preach and ensure that our employees also have access to transportation by providing them with financial incentives to bike, walk, or use transit for a better quality of life.

    About Toole Design

Toole Design is the leading planning, design, and engineering firm specializing in multimodal transportation. Since our start in 2003 as a single office in Maryland, we have expanded throughout the United States and Canada. Our talented team of planners, urban designers, landscape architects, and engineers are committed to delivering quality work that meets the needs of all people, regardless of age, ability, race, or gender. We have been named a "best firm to work for" and have one of the lowest staff turnover rates in the industry. Every project our employees deliver directly and positively affects our communities. We are industry-leading experts, and we work hard to encourage a collaborative and team-oriented environment.

A Day in the Life of a Graphic Designer

As a Graphic Designer at Toole, you will be a part of our Graphic Design team, working collaboratively with planners, urban designers, landscape architects, and engineers to help graphically convey information about our built environment. You will sometimes lead teams on tasks that focus on design communication, and often support teams of other specialists to design and art direct a variety of deliverables including planning reports, presentations, stakeholder outreach materials, and websites. You will use your knowledge of visual communication and storytelling to help technical staff refine how they communicate their ideas and ensure the delivery of graphic products that are engaging and informative. Opportunities for work on illustration, wayfinding, and pop-up community engagement installations are also available depending on your specific background and skillset. You will regularly have a variety of interesting projects on your plate, and the ability to prioritize your efforts and effectively leverage the skills of other team members is critical.

The Graphic Design team is dispersed throughout the country, currently including designers stationed in Portland, Madison, and Los Angeles, and the selected candidate will have the opportunity to collaborate with interdisciplinary teams across Toole Design's 19 offices in the US and Canada. You will regularly participate in critiques with your fellow graphic designers, help guide more junior team members, and contribute to company-wide graphic standards.

    Work Schedule

This full-time position typically works a flexible schedule of 40 hours a week. We also provide employees with the flexibility and necessary equipment to work from home 2-3 days per week. The Boston office of Toole Design is conveniently located just outside of Post Office Square in downtown Boston, blocks from multiple MBTA subway lines and walking distance from both North and South Stations. The office is easily accessed on foot, by bicycle, and via transit.

Ready to Join our Boston Team? We understand your time is valuable, so we have a quick and easy application process. If you feel that you would be right for this Graphic Designer position, please fill out our application visiting our website. Please attach a portfolio of your work. Your application will not be reviewed without a portfolio.

At Toole Design, diversity is a necessity, not a nice-to-have. We have a collaborative culture where people of all backgrounds come together to share ideas and build better, more inclusive communities. We encourage those from underrepresented communities - women, people of color, LGBTQIA+, immigrants, those with disabilities and people at all the intersections in between - to apply. Even if you don't think your current skill set checks every box below, but this role seems to align with your strengths, we want to hear from you.

We're proud that about half of our managers are women and we are committed to achieving racial diversity in our leadership as well. Toole Design is a woman-owned business and an equal opportunity employer (EO/AA/VEV/Disabled employer).
