    Director of Finance and Compliance

    Mission & Vision Statement


    At Clarity, we serve as the bridge between tuition-funded K-12 schools and families seeking to find the best-fit educational environment for their children, regardless of a family's financial means.

    We support access to independent and private K-12 school education by:

    Increasing awareness of the availability of financial aid and tuition assistance.


    Modernizing a complex and opaque process to make access to financial aid easier and more transparent for both schools and families.


    Our vision is to build a suite of tools that make the option of a private school education more approachable and accessible to millions of families.

    The first step is our transformative financial aid solution that launched in 2022 and has experienced rapid growth to over 700 schools and 100,000 families.

    Responsibilities

    Managerial

    Work with Operations Team to develop and maintain systems and policies for accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll systems, benefits management, and financial controls

    Manage Back Office Operations Coordinator

    Review and negotiate vendor agreements

    Manage bookkeeper

    Work with CFO to interface with our accounting firm.

    Support sales team by answering contract questions posed by prospects and internal team.

    Banking, Accounting and Tax

    Review monthly bookkeeper reconciliations

    Work with leadership team to develop updated cash-flow projections and forecasting

    Work with accounting firm and CFO to manage and prepare federal, state, and local taxes

    Manage financial databases

    409a preparation and submission

    Manage employee stock option grant authorizations

    Compliance and legal

    Work with CFO to interface with company counsel regarding risk management and legal matters

    Work with CFO and company counsel to develop documentation of policies

    Lead internal trainings consistent with best practices on legal risk management and recommendations from counsel

    Work with leadership team and company counsel to understand ongoing and emerging compliance requirements

    Assess our risk and compliance requirements on an ongoing basis

    Assess the robustness of our contracts / agreements on an ongoing basis

    Lead our annual SOC 2 audit process, with support from engineering leadership

    Support Back Office Operations Coordinator in applying for licenses and account numbers in all states in which we have employees, material business activities or other reporting obligations

    Handle strategic / high level correspondence with state, local, and federal agencies

    Coordinate with all departments to ensure proper guardrails for compliance

    Traits of an Ideal Candidate

    Experience with financial statements and financial controls

    Experience with risk management / contract management

    Compensation and Benefits

    Salary range of $130,000 - $150,000, depending on experience
