    Role:

    Reporting to the AVP of HomeX, this role is responsible for directing the HomeX department in originating and managing a portfolio of loans that will perform commensurate with loan pricing; instituting the appropriate department structure; and following the credit union's established credit standards and underwriting criteria. The position is responsible to: develop, implement and fine tune cross-functional processes that guide loan origination and servicing efforts of the HomeX department. The role is responsible for ensuring that processes are effective, efficient and maintain costs to an ideal level given production and service objectives. The role is required to analyze and anticipate loan performance and use that data to develop recommendations for sound credit policy in order to minimize risk while meeting credit union objectives of sustainable profitability and market share.

    What you will be doing:

    Originates and Manages Loan Portfolio:

    • Ensures implementation of efficient processes and policies that sustain CU's value proposition and serve credit worthy borrowers.
    • Ensures complaint processes and policies are in place for loan origination.
    • Participates in the process of the pricing committees.
    • Ensures marginal production pricing adequate to provide sustainable profitability.

    Minimizes Risk While Maximizing Profitability:

    • Ensures portfolio performs commensurate to pricing.
    • Ensures institution of appropriate department structure to fulfill portfolio work requirements.
    • Monitors cost of loan defaults against loan margins and make recommendation for pricing changes.
    • Tracks economic factors that impact loan performance.
    • Performs analytical risk assessment of current and new relationships, programs, ideas and design policy to mitigate risk and maximize opportunities.
    • Minimizes reactions to lending adequacy pressures.

    Processes Innovation:

    • Builds, maintains, and evolves operational capability to effectively and efficiently originate loans.
    • Constructs, implements, executes sequential plans for loan origination processes.
    • Designs and implements new cross functional processes to optimize effectiveness of loan origination and to prescribe how future work will be carried out while ensuring present business continues to run efficiently and effectively.
    • Utilizes loan performance feedback to determine necessary changes to credit policy.

    Analyzes Loan Performance:

    • Develops systems to monitor and analyze loan performance.
    • Identifies current and future trends in loan performance (aggregate, cohort, loan level).
    • Develops and implements comprehensive credit policy adjustments based on findings.
    • Determines effectiveness of policy changes.
    • Monitors portfolio concentrations and forecast loss exposure.

    Other Departmental Duties:

    • Prepares 2-year plans & annual budget for loan production capacity, staffing, loan loss expense forecast & corresponding margin requirement.
    • Meets annual benchmark objectives and goals for department.
    • Establishes and maintains mutually beneficial working relationship with peers and credit union dealer partners in achieving loan origination goals.
    • Ensures excellent customer service at every touch point.
    • Creates and maintain compliant operations that produce compliant loan files as determined by internal/external audits.
    • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

    What you'll bring along:

    • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Finance, or a related field.
    • 5-8 Years of experience or similar experience.
    • Proven track record of leadership and management experience in a similar role, preferably within the financial services industry.
    • Excellent strategic planning and execution skills, with a demonstrated ability to translate vision into actionable plans.
    • In-depth knowledge of regulatory requirements and compliance standards, particularly related to the Bank Secrecy Act.
    • Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills.
