  • Integrity and honesty in our actions and relationships.

  • Williamstown High School is a successful, well-regarded government secondary school educating the young people of Williamstown and neighbouring suburbs. The school opened as a government high school in 1915 on the Pasco Street site of the original Williamstown Grammar School, which it replaced. Today it caters for more than 1480 students from Years 7 to 12. It is situated on two campuses that are a ten minute walk apart.

The middle year's campus, Years 7 to 9, is on the site of the former Point Gellibrand Girls' Secondary College, in Bayview Street, Williamstown. Williamstown High School merged with the girls' college in 2000 and a $13 million program saw the campus buildings and grounds rebuilt on award-winning environmentally sustainable designs.

The senior campus, Years 10 to12, is at Pasco Street housed in several heritage buildings, including the original 1867 grammar school block. Centenary celebrations and strong community support has delivered a state of the art 300 seat theatre to the campus completing stage one of the Performing Arts Centre of Excellence facilities.

The features of both sites acknowledge Williamstown's historic link to shipbuilding and sea faring. Its anchor crest and motto "Hold Fast", a sailing cry, point to the value of commitment, of determination, of loyalty, of strength and of courage.

In addition to co-educational home groups the school offers a Select Entry Accelerated Learning program. Families of Williamstown High School students have high expectations that the school strives to meet.

The school also offers an Accelerated Sports program for students involved in a number of sports including netball, athletics, swimming and basketball and an International Students' program. The proximity of the innovative middle year's campus next to Port Phillip Bay and the unique Jawbone Marine Sanctuary has enabled the school to develop an environmental curriculum, including marine studies.

The school has an excellent music program with a stage band, concert band and ensembles. These bands perform at many events, including Westside Arts, Williamstown Festival and numerous other music festivals and interstate events.
