    Description

    Join our team at the Occoneechee Council, Boy Scouts of America, where we empower over 8,000 youth in North Carolina's Triangle Region and surrounding counties through our renowned outdoor-based youth leadership program. Through an operating budget exceeding $4 million, we sustain our mission through diverse revenue streams, including annual campaigns, special events, planned giving, and more.

    Position: Development Director

    Location: Raleigh, North Carolina

    We're seeking a skilled Development Director to lead our fundraising efforts. If you have a background in nonprofit fundraising and event management, we invite you to apply. This role involves managing individual and corporate gifts, coordinating special events, and overseeing annual campaigns.

    Anticipated Hiring Range: Starting at $60,000

    Responsibilities:

    • Lead special events such as golf tournaments, sporting clays tournaments, or banquet fundraisers.
    • Identify and engage volunteer leadership and committee members.
    • Facilitate committee meetings and provide necessary resources and reports.
    • Drive committees to achieve approximately $100,000 net income per event.
    • Oversee event logistics, working closely with vendors and managing onsite operations.
    • Lead an annual operating campaign.
    • Manage a portfolio of potential donors, developing cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship strategies to secure gifts.
    • Recruit and coordinate with volunteer leadership to achieve fundraising goals.
    • Actively identify prospective individual and corporate donors, solicit funds, and cultivate donor relationships.
    • Collaborate with the development team and other departments on fundraising and cultivation events.

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's Degree
    • 4-5 years of fundraising experience
    • Excellent written, interpersonal, and verbal communication skills
    • Detail-oriented, adaptable, and organized, with the ability to manage multiple projects effectively
    • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines
    • Strong team player mentality
    • Proficient in computer and database management; familiarity with Blackbaud or similar CRM software preferred
    • Availability for occasional evening, weekend, and extended hours for meetings and events
