In this dynamic role, you'll lead strategic planning initiatives across eight bus divisions, crafting data-driven alternative plans for major construction projects and daily service adjustments.
Your expertise will shape the future of Metrobus service, as you analyze ridership patterns, develop alternative service proposals, and collaborate with various departments to optimize schedule performance.
As a key member of the Bus Service and Scheduling Office, you'll interface with union personnel, stakeholders, and contracted staff to implement innovative solutions that enhance the customer experience.
Your ability to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders, from frontline workers to executive leadership, will be instrumental in advancing WMATA's goals and objectives.

Minimum Qualifications:
Education
Bachelor's degree in Transportation Planning, Engineering, or related field.
In lieu of a bachelor's degree, a high school diploma or GED and four (4) years of experience in system development, database administration or operation analysis in transportation operation related field; and experience in performing logistics, schedule building or run cutting work using computerized scheduling application system(s)
Experience
A minimum of six (6) years of experience in system development, database administration or operation analysis in transportation operation related filed; and experience in performing logistics, schedule building or run cutting work using computerized scheduling application system(s)

SummaryThe Bus District Schedule Analyst develops bus operation schedules using performance data analysis and scheduling analysis tools.
The Bus District Schedule Analyst conducts bus operating efficiency analyses and effectively coordinates the schedule building activities for regular or special bus operation schedules.
The incumbent oversees all levels of bus scheduling functions and creates a balance between quality of schedules, vehicle blocks, driver duty assignments, and management objectives.
The incumbent further reviews and analyzes past and current operational data with an objective of improving future schedules.Essential Functions
Develops and maintains working relationships with Bus Transportation operating divisions to collect and disseminate information used to enhance bus schedules and n operational efficiencies.
Distributes bus assignments within the division to the Office of Bus Planning (BPLN), the office of Bus Maintenance (BMNT), and the Office of Bus Transportation (BTRA).
Reviews quality of implemented schedules by analyzing operational data and provides feedback for improving future schedules. Extracts relevant scheduling data from the database for assessing and monitoring scheduling quality consistency.Applies software applications for conducting schedule efficiency analysis and provides schedule statistical and cost reports. Maintains relevant knowledge of scheduling industry best practices, as applicable to bus transit operations scheduling.
Keeps up-to-date with new scheduling tools and capabilities as and when they become available by system upgrades.
Trains schedulers in implementation of new features and capabilities and creates special operations schedules (i.e., bus bridges or single tracking) to accommodate any deviation of services.
Assists management in union negotiations by conducting "what if" analysis with respect to union work rules and other operational practices.
Provides reports and analysis on schedule changes, bus assignments, operator requirements, etc.Makes recommendations, and provides relevant analysis, feedback, and software upgrade training to schedulers for meeting management goals of reducing operational costs without sacrificing quality of service.
