- Research unclaimed properties with system alerts placed on certain properties submitted on remit reports from State Street Bank (S) and National Abandoned Property Processing Corp (N). Properties on these reports have system alerts ("S"&"N" Alerts) due to missing or incomplete information that must be corrected and removed before claims on these properties can be approved and paid.
- Prepare system edit request forms and receipt correction forms for any corrections required in the UPS2000 system, and update system records as needed. Resolve issues regarding the reconciliation of the accounts held with "S"&"N" Alerts. Notify management of the more difficult and/or unusual errors or discrepancies for referral to subject matter experts in the Securities Management and Reconciliation Unit to resolve.
- Research and analyze stock certificates remitted to the SCO to determine if the shares can be held electronically in the SCO's broker account. For those certificates that are receivable to the SCO's broker account, prepare the appropriate transfer documents to the SCO's contracted broker. Work with Asset Control to manage the physical inventory of the remaining certificates held in-house and ensure all certificates are accounted for and posted accurately to the unclaimed property system (UPS2000).
- Facilitate other accounting duties in the Unit including the monthly cash reconciliation, year-end reporting, cash receipts and deposits, and claim settlement functions. Annually, review and update "S"&"N" Alerts procedure and Certificates procedure as needed.

Description
Scope of Position:
Under the general direction of the Accounting Administrator I (Supervisor) of the Financial Accounting and Reporting Unit, the Accounting Analyst will perform professional accounting and analytical duties related to maintenance and management of the security certificates remitted to the State Controller's Office (SCO), Unclaimed Property Division (UPD). The incumbent will research and analyze the security certificates to determine if the shares can be held electronically in the SCO's broker account and prepare the associated transfer documents. For certificates that cannot be held with the SCO's broker, work with Asset Control to manage the certificates inventory and ensure all certificates are accounted for and posted accurately to the unclaimed property system. Additionally, the incumbent will research and clear system alerts placed on certain unclaimed properties and update the unclaimed property system so claims on these properties can be approved and paid.
