    Description
    Scope of Position:
    Under the supervision of the Accounting Administrator I, the Accounting Analyst will conduct professional analytical accounting work to research and reconcile corporate actions on securities held by the State Controller, ensuring the protection of public funds. Responsibilities include:
    • Analyze activities related to securities under the Unclaimed Property Law to determine their current value.
    • Reconcile securities accounts on the Unclaimed Property System.
    • Analyze accounting data to identify and address program problem areas.
    • Research overpayments and establish account receivables when necessary.
    • Respond to inquiries from internal and external parties, manage claimant issues, and provide support to staff.
    Desirable Qualifications:
    • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and procedures.
    • Familiarity with investment/securities such as stocks, mutual funds, bonds, dividends, and corporate actions.
    • Ability to analyze data and make informed decisions.
    • Excellent communication skills and ability to work independently or collaboratively.
    • Strong analytical and research skills with good judgment.
    • Self-motivated with a positive attitude.
