    Description
    Duties:
    • Independently performs access control for pedestrians and vehicles, following standard procedures and regulations to determine access in various circumstances
    • Authenticate identification using electronic methods such as the Defense Information System for Security Web application (DISS)
    • Serve as the initial point of contact for visitors to the installation, including foreign nationals, government officials, media, and VIPs
    • Report suspicious activities, unauthorized entry, emergencies, criminal acts, or hazards
    • Handle standard and non-recurring visitor access tasks

    Requirements:
    • Appointment may be subject to a background investigation
    • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance
    • Pass pre-employment and annual physical examinations
    • Must submit to urinalysis drug testing
    • Required to maintain a valid driver's license and Government Operators License
    • Carry authorized firearms and qualify with them semi-annually
    • Wear the designated uniform and maintain a high standard of appearance and hygiene
    • Work nights, weekends, and holidays on a varying schedule
    • Undergo training in CPR, first aid, and pass a Physical Agility Test annually
    • Qualify and remain qualified with the Individual Reliability Program

    Qualifications:
    Specialized experience:
    One year of experience protecting property from hazards and maintaining order to protect lives. Must have knowledge of protective systems and techniques, typical of a GS-05 federal service position. Must meet experience requirements as education cannot be substituted.

    Candidates will be assessed based on their level of competency in areas including Physical Security, Security Enforcement, and Security Equipment Operation.

    Basis for Rating:
    Candidates will be categorized as Best Qualified, Highly Qualified, or Qualified based on their skills and experience relative to the position requirements. Veteran preference eligibles are prioritized within each category.
