    Description
    Senior Accountant

    Stan Koch and Sons Trucking, one of the Midwest's Premier Truckload Carriers is continuing to grow and is looking to add to its staff an Accountant V.

    The purpose of the this position is to provide accurate timely financial information following GAAP standards for internal and external reporting purposes, and for the employee to perform financial analysis and assist in budget preparation. In addition this person will assist the tax manager with the tax reporting, research, planning, and compliance functions of the organization at the federal, state, and local jurisdictions.

    Essential Functions and Responsibilities
    • Run the monthly unbilled revenue report, analyze and record appropriate journal entries.
    • Compute estimated monthly workers' compensation, liability and cargo insurance expense including making worker's compensation payment.
    • Review and analyze portions of financial statement.
    • At month end, computing and enter various journal entries into Epicor and verify balance on balance sheet accounts with general ledger.
    • Assist with the following tax reporting as instructed by the Tax Manager
      • Creation and assembly of the information required for filing or amending the annual federal and 50+ multi-state income/franchise tax returns and the filing of those returns.
      • Monthly standard and adjusting general ledger entries relating to tax compliance.
      • Represent company/companies in any federal or state income/franchise & sales/use tax audits
    Other Duties and Responsibilities
    • Provide backup support for the duties and responsibilities of other general ledger accountants in their absence.
    • Provide backup support for US Bank Positive Pay - confirm any checks that have not cleared the bank, sending up the positive pay files, and US Bank Wires.
    • Work with senior management on various requests and special projects.
    • Assist with the following as instructed by the Tax Manager
      • Assist other departments in tax research and facilitate tax resolution with taxing authorities.
      • Education of other departments regarding sales tax rules and laws for compliance purposes.
      • Continued education regarding tax laws, new developments, and compliance requirements.
      • Provide backup support for quarterly estimated tax calculations and filing of those ACH payments and deferred and current tax provisions per G.A.A.P. (FAS 109 / FIN 48).
