    Description

    The MarComms Intern performs a variety of administrative tasks in the marketing, communications, and administrative department in order to assist with the smooth operation of the department. This position is designed for high school students over the age of 16. The purpose of this internship is for students to gain real-world working experience and apply the things they learn in the classroom.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

    • Provide administrative support to the Marketing Communications team, including but not limited to updating contact lists, review of databases, filing and organizing,
    • Support as needed for review of press releases, newsletters, website content, etc.
    • Research potential earned media opportunities.
    • Assist with miscellaneous layout and design projects.
    • Assist with website development, including content review, categorization, data integration, maintenance, and expansion.
    • Assist with various digital content production tasks where needed.
    • Review and update newsletter subscriber list data.
    • Keep up-to-date with emerging trends for potential application.
    • Perform some clerical and administrative tasks, such as:
    • answering and transferring phone calls
    • greeting and assisting guests and vendors
    • data entry and maintenance of files
    • preparation of meeting materials and other correspondence
    • Performs other related duties as assigned.
    Requirements

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills
    • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software
    • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
    • Basic understanding of clerical procedures and systems such as recordkeeping and filing
    • Ability to work independently
    • Ability to maintain confidential information
    EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND CERTIFICATIONS
    • Currently enrolled in high school.
    • Depending on age, work permit may be required.
    COMPENSATION

    To be determined based upon experience and qualifications. This position is currently being benchmarked with an anticipated starting pay of $19 dollars per hour. This position is non-exempt and part time so the employee is not eligible for the Foundation's benefits.

    ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

    All employees are required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 (medical and religious exemption accommodation possible) upon hire. The Foundation operates in a hybrid working environment with staff working in-office four days per week and the opportunity to work one day remote per week.

    Work is performed primarily in a professional office setting utilizing telephone, computer, and office equipment. Performing the duties of this position requires regular and repetitive hand/wrist/finger motion and visual focus (close vision and ability to adjust focus). The employee is regularly required to stand and/or sit for long periods, talk and hear both in person and by telephone, and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to walk, climb, stoop or bend, and lift up to 15 pounds. This position may also spend time on site visits, in public venues, and/or conferences, events, and meetings with partners. While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to work on multiple concurrent tasks with constant interruptions, read and interpret documents and information, use oral communication skills, and interact with Foundation staff, the general public, and others encountered in the course of work, some of whom may be dissatisfied, demanding, and/or angry individuals.
