    Hybrid: This position does not require an employee to be on-site full-time to perform most effectively. This position requires an employee to be on-site on average 3 days per week

    The Role:

    As a Sr. Buyer for International Business opportunities, you will be responsible for purchase of all or a specific portion of productive and/or non-productive materials, supplies, machinery, tooling and/or services. You will actively participate in development of commodity strategy, sourcing/negotiations, global/regional material budget execution, and interface with suppliers or internal stakeholders. The work is of a complex nature involving a considerable amount of initiative, analytical work and a high level of independent judgment

    What You'll Do:

    • Utilize non-traditional strategies and creativity to navigate unique issues
    • Work with International suppliers to onboard and ensure compliance
    • Actively work with GM Customs to ensure USMCA Compliance
    • Support various sourcing activities and commodity strategies
    • Join and support International PET/Purchasing forums
    • Support New Technology adoption
    • Support Launch Excellence
    • Embrace GM's "It's On Me" behavior to perform in a fast paced International market
    Additional Description

    Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)
    • Bachelors degree
    • Minimum of 5 years of full time, relevant experience
    • Ability to work effectively cross functionally, both internally and externally and build relationships with International Customers and Suppliers
    • Experience with commodities (metals, stampings, castings, plastics, resins, paint, electronics, etc.)
    • Experience managing commercial issues with suppliers and assessing supplier performance
    • Past experience developing international sourcing strategies
    • Demonstrated competence in negotiating skills
    • High level of analytical ability where problems can be extremely complex
    • Developed organizational skills including the ability to prioritize, handle multiple projects simultaneously, and meet deadlines
    • Proficient with Microsoft office products - Word, Excel, PowerPoint
    • Experience with SAP and MRP Systems
    PLEASE NOTE:

    This role is subject to U.S. export control restrictions. U.S. citizenship is required pursuant to government contract. U.S. citizenship needed for required security clearance.

    • Able to read blueprints and to understand basic engineering documents
    • Solid knowledge of contract law and its applications regarding purchasing processes
