    ROLE AND PURPOSE:

    • Perform clerical and secretarial duties necessary for the Adult Education and Literacy Grant Manager to support the implementation of adult education programs.

    FUND SOURCE:

    • Adult Education and Federal Literacy Act (AEFLA) State Program as part of the Tarrant County Adult Education and Literacy Consortium (TCAELC).

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    Education/Certification:

    • High school diploma or equivalent from an accredited institution (required)
    • Bilingual - Spanish (preferred)

    Experience:

    • Two years of general office skills
    • Proficient typing, keyboarding, telephone and file maintenance skills
    • Ability to use personal computer and software to develop spreadsheets, databases and word processing
    • Excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills
    • Self-motivated, with the ability to work under pressure of deadlines

    MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

    SCHOOL/ORGANIZATION CLIMATE

    • Have working knowledge of district policies and practices that relate to the department.
    • Promote positive work environment.
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

    SCHOOL/ORGANIZATIONAL IMPROVEMENT

    • Assist in marketing needs.
    • Maintain confidentiality of student records.

    ADMINISTRATION AND FISCAL/FACILITIES MANAGEMENT

    • Compose and type correspondence, memos and letters, as necessary.
    • Assists in entering student information into the Texas Workforce Commission Texas Educating Adults Management System.
    • Assume responsibility for establishing and maintaining a filing system for records and correspondence.
    • Responsible for placing work orders for department and doing follow-up.
    • Maintain accurate records and reports for grant.
    • Processing and receiving all purchase orders.
    • Assist in maintaining inventory of materials.
    • Track, calculate, generate and input budgets; format and generate reports.
    • Keep current status of accounts and make necessary data entries for adjustments to budget.
    • Receive phone calls and assist walk-ins for the program.
    • Keep calendar of appointments for Adult Education and Literacy Grant Manager.
    • Assist in verifying and completing payroll for the Adult Education and Literacy staff.

    SCHOOL/COMMUNITY RELATIONS

    • Oral and written Spanish translation when needed.
    • Works effectively with District and Department staff.

    PROFESSIONAL GROWTH AND DEVELOPMENT

    • Attend professional learning to continually improve qualifications, knowledge and skills.

    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

    • None.

    MISCELLANEOUS

    • Performs other duties as may be assigned by Adult Education and Literacy Grant Manager.
