    Job Summary:

    The Trade Compliance Specialist handles day-to-day activities related with the import and export compliance programs. The candidate works closely with the Senior Manager Intl. Trade Compliance in import and export compliance matters. This includes, but is not limited to, import/export classification, documentation, valuation, country of origin assessment, export transaction screening and the administration of a free trade subzone. In addition, the position assists implementing the import and export compliance programs, including the maintenance, amendment and establishment of new company policies and procedures. This role will work across all the corporate divisions, business units and departments, and others teams to ensure trade compliance. Work in a highly collaborative team to contribute to the continued growth and development of the International Trade Compliance Department.

    Responsibilities:

    • Determine tariff classifications (US and Canada importations).
    • Daily submissions of Importer Security Filings transactions.
    • Assist in country of origin determinations for imported products including free trade agreements determinations.
    • Respond to Broker Instruction Letter requests regarding U.S. and Canadian importations to ensure timely import clearance.
    • Review import data and documentation provided by external parties for appropriateness.
    • Assist managing the Customs Trade Partnership Against Terrorism (CTPAT) and the CTPAT-Trade Compliance programs with oversight of the Senior Manager ITC.
    • Communicate with business units and others to ensure trade compliance requirements are met.
    • Support the Intl. Trade Compliance Department conducting export transaction screenings against restricted / denied parties lists, and ensures record keeping and reporting requirements.
    • Work on other special projects that may be assigned by the Department Manager.
    Skills and Experience:
    • Attention to details is critical.
    • Minimum 5 years related experience, including a minimum of 3 years in one of the following areas: import / export compliance and operations or customs brokerage.
    • Knowledge of HTSUS classification principles and U.S. import regulations; Electronic Export Information submissions and Free Trade Agreements regulations.
    • First-hand experience filing of the Electronic Export Information (EEI) and Importer Security Filings (ISF).
    • Experience managing free trade sub-zone is highly desirable.
    • Comprehensive working knowledge of EAR, U.S. Customs, other laws regulations governing international trade.
    • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work with and through cross-functional teams.
    • Ability to communicate at all levels. Excellent organization, communication and presentation skills are required.
    Education Required:
    • Bachelor's degree preferred.
