Qualifications/Skills:


Education/Certification:


  • High school diploma or equivalent.

Special Knowledge/Skills:


  • Minimum Assessment Standard: Broad knowledge of MS Word and basic knowledge of MS Excel.
  • Broad knowledge of network and webbased interface systems to upload, create, and store files.
  • Ability to work with multiple storage and database systems such as Google Drive and Microsoft SharePoint.
  • Broad knowledge of Microsoft Outlook.
  • Meet certification requirements to proctor state mandated Oral Language Proficiency Test (OLPT).
  • Ability to understand and read PEIMS coding for English Learners.
  • Broad knowledge of state expectations for bilingual and ESL programming and scheduling.
  • Broad knowledge of the state expectations for registration and enrollment process to identify English Learners.
  • Broad knowledge of the state LPAC Framework to identify, monitor, review, and reclassify English Learners.
  • Broad knowledge of the district SIS (Skyward) to input English Learner coding and run reports.
  • Ability to operate various office equipment.
  • Ability to work with parents, students and school personnel effectively.
  • Ability to exercise good judgment in performing responsibilities.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills.
  • Detail oriented.
  • Bilingual (Spanish, Arabic, Mandarin) preferred.

Major Duties and

Responsibilities:


Communication/Reception and Phones:


  • Answer telephone, record and deliver messages.
  • Welcome and assist parents and students through the initial testing/qualification process.
  • Support and train ADA/registrars in the identification process of English Learners.
  • Support campus LPAC administrators and coordinators in implementing the state LPAC framework.
  • Maintain constant communication with campus personnel to obtain student records for new and transfer students.

Centralized Compliance Duties:


  • Data entry of immigrant information in Skyward based on Home Language Survey.
  • Code students as EL or EP on Skyward based Language Proficiency Assessment Committee (LPAC) recommendation.
  • Code students in appropriate bilingual and ESL programs in accordance with parent approval.
  • Code students who are identified as SIFE.
  • Yearly verify and update English Learner coding to reflect teacher certification.
  • Run English Learner reports based on department and campus requests.
  • Prepare materials and proctor state mandated OLPT for new students to SBISD and other assessments as required for students in EL programs.
  • Assist EL Compliance Coordinator in the scheduling and preparation of LPAC meetings.
  • Check for the completion and accuracy of LPAC folders.
  • Request, identify, and research student records of previously identified Texas ELs.
  • Participate in professional training activities that assure that the district is continually uptodate in new guidance and LPAC processes.
  • Interview parents to gain prior schooling history.
  • Coordinate and conduct oral language proficiency assessments to Two Way Dual Language students at their campus.
  • Administer and score high school placement tests as needed.
  • Prepare LPAC folders for LPACs.
  • Share responsibility for ensuring confidentiality of student LPAC folders.
  • Submit LPAC folders to campuses.
  • Enter End of Year LPAC program change data on Skyward.
  • Assist campuses, as needed.

Clerical Support:


  • Request/forward student records.
  • Maintain responsibility of ongoing data entry of all EL student information in Skyward and SuccessEd.
  • Maintain and verify current EL initial and end of year data following TEA, Region IV and district requirements.
  • Obtain and furnish various reports/printouts on student data.
  • Assist in preparation of written reports that are required by federal, state, and local agencies.
  • Keep inventory of materials.
