- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Biochemistry or similar field, or Bachelor's degree (BS/BA) in combination with equivalent work experiences (such that the objectives of the position are equaled) required
- Master's degree preferred
- Highly motivated, dedicated individual who is capable of working both independently and on various team projects and can manage multiple duties with close attention to detail required
- Previous experience in a laboratory setting with in vitro and in vivo models, and a willingness to learn new techniques required
- Previous experience in chemistry, microbiology, cell biology and molecular biology required
- Previous training with basic techniques such as HPLC, Cell Culture, Western Blotting, Elisa, and PCR preferred
- Experience with animal experimentation required
- Excellent communication and organizational skills required.

General Summary of Position The Firefighters' Burn and Surgical Research Laboratory Research Associate is responsible for contributing technically and scientifically to basic and translational research in partnership with the laboratory director and laboratory Principal Investigator (PI). Broad research topics include: Dressing products, topical agents, and other anti-inflammatory and antibiotic evaluation and testing (animal models), Microvascular assessment in burn wound conversion, Burn shock modeling, Novel applications of dermal substitutes, Laser guided burn wound excision, Local and systemic mechanisms that contribute to burn wound conversion, In vivo studies of electrical injury, Natural history of hypertrophic scarring, Sepsis and complications of infection, Clinical Studies in burn patient populations. This position involves collaboration with our partners at Fort Detrick USACEHR Systems Biology Group, Catholic University, and Georgetown University.\r
