    The Department of PA Studies of the George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences (SMHS) is seeking a Laboratory Associate. The mission of the Department is to provide exceptional education to clinicians of the future who represent and serve diverse communities through collaborative healthcare and leadership.

    This position typically monitors compliance within a lab with university safety standards and practices along with OSHA, CFR, and other federal, state, and local requirements. This position documents emergency responses if necessary and ensures compliance with nationally accepted standards for cleanroom operations and cleanroom best practices. This role provides user support on equipment and technical details when necessary. This role may supervise students and trainees who come to the lab to develop skills in research. The position may perform data and image analysis, compile
    results, and prepare technical reports and documentation of outcomes.

    Additional Duties:

    •Prepare and assist in course-based laboratory experiments

    •Restock and organize laboratory inventory

    •Maintenance of Good Laboratory Practice records and generation of protocols and reports

    •General maintenance of cleanliness of the laboratory

    •Assist faculty in management of materials for courses

    •Lead periodic recitation/review sessions for courses

    •Provides support to students, in a research setting, as needed

    Performs other related duties as assigned. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    Qualified candidates will hold a BA/BS in a related discipline, plus 2 years of relevant professional experience or, a Master's degree or higher in a relevant area of study. Degree must be conferred by the start date of the position.

    Additional Required Licenses/Certifications/Posting Specific Minimum Qualifications:

    Preferred Qualifications:
    • Laboratory-based course experience in: biology, general chemistry, organic chemistry, and physics or related areas preferred
    • Completion of the GW Post-Baccalaureate/Pre-medicine Program desired
