As a Category Manager, you will be responsible for the overall success of a specific product category within our company (rope, climbing gear, safety equipment) You will wear many hats, from analyzing market data and consumer trends to developing strategic plans and managing supplier relationships.

Your ultimate goal is to maximize sales and profitability for your assigned category.
Here's a closer look at what you'll be doing:
Conduct market research and analyze consumer trends, competitor products, and pricing to identify opportunities and make data-driven decisions.
Develop and implement category strategies and plans to achieve sales and profit targets.
Manage product assortment, including selecting products, optimizing inventory levels, and ensuring product availability.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams, such as marketing, sales, and supply chain, to develop and execute category-specific plans and pricing strategies.

Build and maintain strong relationships with vendors to negotiate favorable contracts, pricing, and terms.
Monitor market dynamics and adjust category strategies accordingly to stay ahead of the competition.
Analyze sales data and other key metrics to measure the performance of your category and identify areas for improvement.
Develop and present reports to company leadership on category performance and future plans.
To be successful in this role, you should have the following skills and experience:
Bachelor's degree in business administration, marketing, or a related field (MBA preferred)
Minimum of [X] years of experience in category management or a similar role
Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Proven ability to develop and implement strategic plans
Experience in vendor negotiation and relationship management
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software (e.g., CRM, data analysis tools)
